| Hue City Police are coordinating the collection of DNA samples from relatives of fallen soldiers. |
At the sample collection point in the Hue City Police Headquarters, the city police, in coordination with the Department of Administrative Management of Social Order, Ministry of Public Security , and the testing unit, organized the collection of DNA samples from 12 relatives of fallen soldiers, including Vietnamese Heroic Mothers and mothers of unidentified fallen soldiers.
It is known that currently, throughout the country, there are still approximately 500,000 martyrs whose identities have not been determined, including 200,000 remains that have not been collected and 300,000 remains that have been buried but lack information. In Hue City alone, there are still over 3,000 martyrs whose identities remain unknown.
The collection of DNA samples for relatives of unidentified martyrs, organized by the Hue City Police in coordination with other units, is a good preparatory step for the search effort, helping to open up opportunities for families to find the remains of their loved ones sooner.
In the coming period, the police forces at all levels and localities will continue to coordinate with relevant agencies in collecting and updating information on the relatives of fallen soldiers. This will enrich the data, supplement the gene bank of fallen soldiers whose information is yet to be identified, and ensure that DNA sample collection is carried out quickly and smoothly.
