Permanent Deputy Minister Le Hai Binh: Selecting outstanding works to award the Third National Press Award "For the cause of developing Vietnamese Culture"

On the afternoon of October 9, in Hanoi, the Organizing Committee of the Third National Press Award "For the cause of developing Vietnamese Culture" - 2025 held the opening ceremony of the Final round of the Award.

Attending the ceremony were Member of the Party Central Committee, Deputy Head of the Central Propaganda and Mass Mobilization Commission, Editor-in-Chief of Nhan Dan Newspaper, President of the Vietnam Journalists Association Le Quoc Minh - Chairman of the Final Jury Council; Alternate Member of the Party Central Committee, Permanent Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Le Hai Binh - Head of the Organizing Committee of the Award, along with members of the Organizing Committee and the Final Jury of the Award.

In his opening speech, Permanent Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Le Hai Binh - Head of the Organizing Committee of the Award said that the Third National Press Award "For the cause of developing Vietnamese Culture" - 2025 took place in a very special context.

The country is changing strongly, creating a solid foundation for development in all fields, while providing inspiration and rich materials for journalists to create many valuable works.

According to Permanent Deputy Minister Le Hai Binh, up to now, the Party and State have always paid special attention to the cultural field. In particular, recently, along with the breakthrough Resolutions in various fields that have been issued, the Politburo is assigning the Government Party Committee and the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism Party Committee to draft a Resolution of the Politburo on the revival and development of Vietnamese culture in the new era.

The building of the Resolution has created expectations for a strong shift in building an advanced Vietnamese culture, imbued with national identity, meeting the requirements of sustainable national development, while also creating a rich source of material for journalists.

Permanent Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Le Hai Binh delivered the opening speech.

Deputy Minister Le Hai Binh said that after two times of organization, the Award has changed its name to the National Press Award "For the cause of developing Vietnamese Culture", a name that is more inclusive, more open and suitable for changes in the new situation.

With 1040 entries, spanning across different fields and topics. The entries cover many areas, expressing concerns and enthusiasm for preserving and promoting the value of national cultural heritage, promoting the development of cultural industries, preserving ethical standards in families and society, as well as promoting the image of Vietnamese culture to the world ...

The selection of the works for the Final Round is the result of a great effort from the Preliminary Council. In the coming time, the Final Council will continue to work more carefully and diligently to find truly excellent works to be awarded.

Deputy Minister Le Hai Binh also expressed his hope that in the coming time there will be more high-quality journalistic works with strong influence and positive inspiration, contributing to promoting the development of Vietnamese culture.

Reporting on the judging of the Preliminary Round, Head of the Professional and Communication Department, Vietnam Journalists Association Tran Thai Son said that in just nearly 4 months of launching, up to August 10, 2025 (according to the postmark), the Secretariat - Synthesis of the Award has received 1,040 press works submitted to the contest from most central and local press agencies.

This is a very high number for a specialized press award, especially in the context of press agencies restructuring and streamlining their apparatus in the spirit of Resolution 18 of the Party Central Committee. The quantity and quality of this year's entries demonstrate the deep interest of journalists in the fields of culture, information, sports, tourism and family.

  Plan to organize the Third National Press Award "For the cause of developing Vietnamese Culture"

After a thorough screening process, 927 qualified works were entered into the preliminary round (from August 30 to September 15, 2025). Through independent assessment and focused discussion, with an objective and impartial spirit, the Preliminary Subcommittees selected 122 best works for the final round, distributed by press type as follows:

The print newspaper selected 25 works;

The electronic newspaper selected 30 works;

Radio selected 22 works;

Television selected 25 works;

The photo newspaper selected 20 works.

According to the assessment of the Preliminary Council, the entries for the Award are not only high in quantity and diverse in topics, but also of good professional quality, gathering many large and small press agencies at the central and local levels. The works all adhere to major themes, vividly reflecting important events of 2024-2025 in the fields of culture, information, sports, tourism and family.

Some prominent topics that many groups of readers are interested in and exploit include: Issues about the position and role of culture in the new era of the nation; Issues about opportunities in building and developing the entertainment industry, film market, book market and reading culture; developing tourism, sports, building families, protecting children...; Issues about preserving and promoting, conserving relics and cultural heritage of Vietnam; Issues about innovation and copyright in the cultural field in the current digital environment; Family topics, about the tradition of studiousness with exemplary characters who are filial and loyal to their parents; guiding readers to the true, good and beautiful values ​​of life; Hot social issues such as: the spirit of mutual love, solidarity in storms and floods; stories about catching the patriotic trend...

The summary and award ceremony is expected to be held in November 2025 in Hanoi, with the participation of leaders of the Party, State, Ministries, Central Committees and branches, press agencies and outstanding journalists.
