At a press conference at the end of December 2024, Russian Ambassador to Vietnam Professor Bezdetko stated that during the visit, the two sides were expected to exchange views on many issues, including the implementation of commemorative activities in 2025.

The ambassador emphasized that Vietnam-Russia relations have a long tradition of friendship and trust. In the current period, cooperation between the two sides continues to develop despite the complex geopolitical environment in the world.

During Russian President Vladimir Putin's state visit to Vietnam in June 2024, the two sides signed a major package of 15 documents aimed at further promoting cooperation in areas such as economics, education and training, science, and culture.

In 2024, bilateral economic and trade cooperation continued to develop. Cooperation in the oil and gas sector continued to achieve success, mainly within the framework of the Vietsopetro joint venture. The flagship of cooperation between the two countries in this field celebrated the milestone of producing 250 million tons of oil in 2024. In the Nenets Autonomous Region of Russia, the JC Rusvietpetro LLC project continued to operate effectively.

The Russian GAZ vehicle assembly plant in Da Nang has achieved good results. Since putting its production line into operation at the end of 2020, the company has assembled and sold approximately 2,500 different vehicles to the Vietnamese market.

Thanks to the partial resumption of direct flights operated by Aeroflot and Iraero, the number of Russian tourists visiting Vietnam has increased again.

Russian Trade Representative Kharinov, citing information from the General Department of Vietnam Customs, stated that despite the complex international situation, both sides have achieved growth in trade turnover in traditional goods.

According to Viacheslav Kharinov, Head of the Russian Trade Representative Office, Russia is looking for niche markets to export more car models to Vietnam.

Ambassador Bezdetko stated that Vietnam and Russia had previously cooperated on the Ninh Thuan nuclear power plant project, before it was halted in 2016. Russia's nuclear industry is one of the most developed and renowned in the world. Currently, Russia leads the world in the total number of nuclear facilities and is always ready to cooperate with Vietnam in the development of nuclear power.
