Lively atmosphere in the localities
The series of activities in Da Nang celebrating Vietnam's Book and Reading Culture Day 2026 will be held throughout the year, peaking from April 1st to May 10th. The activities are diverse and linked to messages such as: "Books - Knowledge - Aspiration for National Development," "Reading Culture in the Digital Age," and "Developing Reading Culture - the Foundation for Building a Learning Society."
In many localities, book festivals are held continuously, creating a vibrant atmosphere and attracting a large number of people. In April 2026, the Da Nang Book Festival will be held in Tam Ky ward (April 11-15), Phu Ninh commune (April 18-22), and Tien Phuoc commune (April 25-29). At these events, people can access book displays, information resource exhibitions, participate in cultural and artistic exchanges, experience mobile library services, and receive free library cards.
At the same time, book and reading culture festivals took place in Thanh Khe ward and Hoa Vang commune. Notably, the book festival, combined with the launch of the pedestrian zone in Ban Thach ward (April 17-19) at 24/3 Square, attracted a large number of people with many interwoven activities such as: children's art competition, artistic book arrangement, interaction with speakers, street music program…

According to Mr. Bui Tan Cong, Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Tam Ky Ward, the book festival is an event of profound significance, honoring the value of books, knowledge, and reading culture in social life; expanding opportunities for people to access good books, and forming a healthy cultural environment in the community.
"Through the activities of the festival, the locality hopes to contribute to spreading the value of knowledge, nurturing a love of books, arousing creativity, building a lifelong reading and learning habit, and aiming to build a learning society and a learning community in Da Nang city," Mr. Cong shared.
In the city center, the 2nd Da Nang Reading Culture Festival and Book-Based Storytelling Contest 2026 is scheduled to take place from May 2nd to 10th at APEC Park and the extended Bach Dang Street. The event will bring together publishing houses, schools, clubs, and organizations with various activities including exhibitions, displays, exchanges, and initiatives to promote reading culture.
After the peak period, activities continued at the local level, with book fairs held in Son Cam Ha commune (May 23-27) and Tra My commune (May 30 - June 3), thereby bringing books closer to the people, especially in disadvantaged areas.

According to Vu Thi An, Deputy Director of the Da Nang Library, in addition to the book festivals, the city will also organize the "Da Nang Reading Culture Ambassador" competition in 2026 (from March to August), targeting students, with the aim of spreading a love of books and selecting outstanding individuals to be nominated for recognition at the central level.
“Developing a reading culture is one of the important tasks aimed at raising intellectual standards, fostering character, and building a learning society. Activities in response to Vietnam Book and Reading Culture Day contribute to realizing that goal; at the same time, they create conditions for people, especially the younger generation, to access knowledge and strive towards the values of truth, goodness, and beauty,” Ms. An said.
Building and developing an electronic library.
Alongside direct activities, the construction and operation of electronic libraries in many localities and units has become a highlight of this year's campaign, expanding access to knowledge in the context of digital transformation.
Within the framework of the An Hai Book Fair (April 16-20), the An Hai Ward People's Committee launched its Electronic Library. Chairman of the Ward People's Committee, Hoang Cong Thanh, stated that this is a step towards diversifying methods of serving readers, meeting the increasing demand for information access; and simultaneously calling on officials and citizens to actively read books and effectively utilize digital resources to spread a reading culture in the community.

At schools, many activities have been implemented in response, such as: book quizzes and presentations in both in-person and online formats; building "smart libraries" and "digital libraries" to create reading spaces suitable for students.
Not only in local areas, but also within the armed forces, the 282nd Regiment of the 375th Air Defense Division has recently put into use a multi-purpose reading room and electronic library. This project contributes to modernizing political education and simultaneously enhances the cultural life of soldiers in the digital age.
The electronic library system, equipped with networked computers and internet access, is tightly managed, allowing access to a vast database of digital books, specialized journals, and historical documents.
The reading room space is designed for flexibility, serving purposes such as reading books, watching documentaries, and organizing online learning activities. Book borrowing and returning are managed using specialized software, saving time and fostering a professional approach to library work.

Colonel Nguyen Minh Duc, Secretary of the Party Committee and Political Commissar of the 375th Division, assessed that the application of the electronic library has brought practical effectiveness in improving the quality of learning and living for soldiers.
"Accessing information quickly and accurately through the electronic library will help officers and soldiers enhance their political acumen, master modern weapons and technical equipment, and strengthen their confidence in fulfilling the task of firmly protecting the nation's airspace," said Colonel Nguyen Minh Duc.
According to Ms. Vu Thi An, these activities contribute to strengthening coordination between the Da Nang Library and military units in developing a reading culture and building a cultural and spiritual life within the military.
In the coming period, Da Nang Library plans to continue coordinating with the 375th Division to implement activities such as: providing mobile multimedia library services; displaying and introducing thematic books; organizing seminars and thematic talks… to bring knowledge closer to officers and soldiers.
