On the morning of September 7th, the 17th Ho Chi Minh City International Tourism Fair - ITE HCMC 2023 officially opened at the Saigon Exhibition and Convention Center (SECC).

The ceremony was attended by former President Nguyen Minh Triet, Deputy Prime Minister Tran Hong Ha, Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Nguyen Van Hung, Chairman of the People's Committee of Ho Chi Minh City Phan Van Mai, along with many leaders from departments, localities, businesses, and delegates from 42 countries and territories.

The 17th Ho Chi Minh City International Tourism Fair opened on the morning of September 7th at SECC.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, Mr. Phan Van Mai said that Vietnam had welcomed more than 87 million tourists in the first eight months of 2023, reaching 70% of the 2019 figure, including 7.8 million international visitors, with total tourism revenue exceeding 482,000 billion VND.

In Ho Chi Minh City alone, the first eight months of 2023 saw nearly 25 million visitors, reaching 63% of the 2019 figure, including nearly 3 million international visitors, a 105.2% increase compared to the same period in 2022, generating over 100,000 billion VND in tourism revenue.

The Chairman of the People's Committee of Ho Chi Minh City affirmed the important role of ITE HCMC in promoting the growth of the international tourist market to Vietnam and increasing the flow of tourists between countries.

A series of special offers were introduced at the fair.

Mr. Phan Van Mai noted that this year's ITE HCMC is significant as it is being held in the context of Vietnam's tourism industry and localities strongly implementing solutions to carry out Government Resolution No. 82 on key tasks and solutions to accelerate the recovery and development of tourism effectively and sustainably, especially the new visa policy effective from August 15, 2023.

"Specifically for Ho Chi Minh City, the 17th International Tourism Fair also opens up opportunities for mechanisms and policies that will provide impetus for the development of the tourism industry," Mr. Phan Van Mai emphasized.

This year's Ho Chi Minh City International Tourism Fair, held from September 7-9, attracted more than 400 exhibitors and brands, including national and local tourism promotion agencies, tourism associations, tourism research institutes, companies, travel agencies, accommodation establishments, airlines, and transportation companies.

ITE HCMC attracted more than 400 participating units.

One of ITE HCMC's key tasks is to expand the market share of international tourists to Vietnam and create a breakthrough in tourism promotion and marketing.

Visitors to the public consumer fair can receive attractive offers from travel agencies, airlines, restaurants, and hotels, such as promotional tour packages, discounted air tickets, and lucky draw programs… The fair is expected to attract more than 25,000 visitors.
