| Providing support to disadvantaged households in terms of capital, seeds, technology, and production experience. |
Diversifying the movement
In 2025, amidst the impacts of climate change, natural disasters, and diseases affecting crops and livestock on agricultural production, the City's Farmers' Association proactively maintained close contact with the grassroots, promptly understanding the thoughts and aspirations of its members and farmers to provide appropriate support solutions. The various levels of the association actively propagated and mobilized members to effectively implement the Party's guidelines and the State's policies and laws; simultaneously launching and effectively organizing major emulation movements of the association.
A prime example is the movement "Farmers competing in excellent production and business, uniting to help each other get rich and sustainably reduce poverty." This is also the core and overarching movement in the work of the farmers' association and the farmers' movement. Accordingly, more than 45,200 member households throughout the city registered to strive for the title of excellent farmer in production and business at all levels. After evaluation, 22,757 households achieved the title, exceeding the set target. The movement not only contributes to increasing farmers' income but also spreads the spirit of solidarity, mutual support, and assistance in developing the economy and sustainably reducing poverty at the grassroots level.
The movement has given rise to many effective production models, many exemplary and advanced farmers who boldly apply science and technology, transform the structure of crops and livestock, link production along the value chain, and gradually form a mindset of modern, commercial agricultural production.
In Quang Dien commune, the movement of farmers competing to excel in production and business is being implemented in conjunction with the development orientation of organic, ecological, and circular economy agriculture. The commune's Farmers' Association has actively propagated and mobilized members to participate in clean and safe production models; coordinated the organization of training courses, transferred scientific and technical knowledge, and guided farmers to apply advanced production processes in practice.
Many member households in Quang Dien commune have boldly converted inefficient land areas to growing fruit trees and vegetables organically; developing family-run and large-scale livestock farms associated with environmental protection, such as: the chrysanthemum model of Mr. Hoang Cong Tien's household in La Van Ha village; the off-season water spinach and chili peppers of Mr. Nguyen Luong Bao's household in La Van Thuong village; and Mr. Phan Van Ngoc's integrated farm in Thu Le Nam village... Through cooperatives and professional associations, farmer members are gradually linking production and consumption to stabilize products, increase the value of agricultural products, and boost family income.
Mr. Phan Xuan Nam, Vice Chairman of the City's Farmers' Association, said: "Not only do successful farmers enrich themselves, but they also actively support disadvantaged households with capital, seeds, techniques, and production experience, contributing to spreading the spirit of solidarity and mutual assistance in the community."
Enhancing the role of farmers as key stakeholders.
Along with excellent production and business practices, the "Farmers joining forces to build new rural areas and civilized urban areas" movement has also been widely implemented by the City Farmers' Association, creating consensus and positive response among members and farmers.
In Huong An ward, the movement has become a highlight in building a civilized urban area. The ward's Farmers' Association has proactively coordinated with the government and other organizations to propagate and mobilize members to donate land, contribute labor and funds to build and upgrade transportation infrastructure, and beautify village roads and alleys. Models such as "Green Sunday," "Flower Road," and "Farmers collecting waste and pesticide packaging" are regularly maintained, contributing to raising people's awareness of environmental protection.
The city-level Farmers' Associations are also actively implementing many other practical movements and activities such as participating in environmental protection and climate change response; developing the collective economy; building cooperatives and cooperative groups; digital transformation in agriculture and sustainable poverty reduction.
Through this movement, the role and responsibilities of farmer association members in building civilized urban areas are increasingly promoted, contributing to creating a new look for the locality and improving the material and spiritual quality of life for the people.
According to Mr. Phan Xuan Nam, building on the achievements, in the coming period, the City's Farmers' Association will continue to strengthen its leadership and guidance, promoting grassroots farmers' movements in a way that is innovative, practical, effective, and sustainable. The focus will be on improving the quality of the farmers' emulation movement in excellent production and business, linked to digital transformation, application of science and technology, development of ecological and organic agriculture, circular economy, and adaptation to climate change. The Association will also focus on building strong organizations from the grassroots level, improving the quality of its staff; innovating the content and methods of branch and group activities to be more practical and meet the needs and interests of its members. It will strengthen activities to support farmers with capital, science and technology, vocational training, product consumption connections, and promote the development of collective economic activities and production linkages along the value chain, making a significant contribution to building a modern and sustainable agriculture in the new era.
