Maintain growth momentum.
In the first quarter of this year, trade and service activities in the province recorded many positive signs, continuing to play a "support" role for the economy. According to statistics, total retail sales of goods and consumer service revenue are estimated at 37,699 billion VND, an increase of 13.2% compared to the same period last year. This is a fairly high increase, showing that market purchasing power is clearly recovering, contributing to promoting the circulation of goods and economic growth.
Simultaneously, the province's export turnover reached approximately 560 million USD, an 8% increase compared to the same period last year. This result further affirms the role of trade in connecting production with domestic and international markets, creating stable outlets for local goods.
The province's export turnover in the first quarter reached approximately 560 million USD, an 8% increase compared to the same period last year.
In the industrial sector, the industrial production index increased by 8.7% year-on-year, contributing to ensuring the supply of goods to the market. Notably, processed shrimp production reached over 88,000 tons, an increase of 15.7%, showing a positive recovery of the seafood processing industry - a key sector of the province.
Although some products such as electricity, gas, and fertilizers saw a decrease compared to the same period last year, overall production remained stable. This provides an important foundation for the development of trade and services, contributing to maintaining the overall growth rate.
Boosting trade promotion
To maintain growth momentum and expand markets, businesses and distribution systems in the province are proactively implementing various solutions to improve business efficiency.
Mr. Tran Ngoc Thach, Deputy Director of Co.opmart Ca Mau , said: "We always prioritize selecting suppliers that ensure quality and food safety standards. At the same time, we coordinate mobile sales programs, bringing goods to rural areas, making it easier for people to access our products. Promotional programs and consumer stimulus initiatives are also regularly implemented, creating stable purchasing power in the market, especially in the context of consumers becoming increasingly cautious in their spending."
According to Mr. Duong Vu Nam, Deputy Director of the Department of Industry and Trade, in recent times, trade promotion activities in the province have been implemented synchronously, helping businesses expand their consumer markets. Many distinctive products of Ca Mau have entered modern distribution systems and are gradually asserting their position in the market.
Many of Ca Mau's distinctive products have improved in quality and developed sustainable supply chains, creating a foundation for expanding markets both domestically and internationally.
In addition to focusing on the domestic market, the province is also strengthening connections with overseas markets through trade promotion programs, fairs, and exhibitions. This creates opportunities for businesses to find partners, expand export markets, and enhance the value of their products.
The combination of traditional trade promotion with modern methods such as e-commerce and digital transformation is being emphasized, contributing to improved connectivity and consumption of goods in the new context.
Creating momentum for double-digit growth targets.
In reality, trade and services not only play a role in product consumption but also serve as an effective channel for stimulating demand, boosting economic turnover, increasing value, and creating more jobs for workers. In the province's economic development strategy, trade and services are identified as one of the important pillars, capable of creating a strong ripple effect on other industries and sectors.
With retail sales exceeding 13% in the first quarter, coupled with the recovery of production and exports, this sector is making a positive contribution to the overall growth target. According to the plan, Ca Mau aims for a growth rate of approximately 13-15% in the trade and service sector in the coming period.
Total retail sales of goods and consumer service revenue are estimated at VND 37,699 billion, an increase of 13.2% compared to the same period last year.
To achieve this goal, the province will continue to implement comprehensive solutions such as stimulating consumer demand, developing a modern distribution system, expanding rural markets, and improving service quality.
Furthermore, promoting the application of technology, developing e-commerce, and digital transformation in the commercial sector are considered inevitable trends, contributing to improved operational efficiency and increased competitiveness. At the same time, the province focuses on building product brands, improving product quality, developing sustainable supply chains, and creating a foundation for expanding domestic and international markets.
As the economy gradually recovers, trade and services are accelerating, continuing to affirm their important role as a "pillar," contributing to maintaining growth momentum and creating impetus for development.
