Giving is forever
Having visited the hospital many times for health checkups, and witnessing young children with thalassemia desperately waiting for blood to prolong their lives, or seeing family members of patients urgently pleading for help for their loved ones who had lost too much blood due to traffic accidents, Thuy felt a pang in her heart. "At that moment, I just wished I were healthy enough to donate blood immediately," Thuy confided.
Therefore, when her doctor determined she was eligible to donate blood, Thuy did not hesitate to register. Even though she donated blood during the COVID-19 pandemic, and despite her family's worries and friends' warnings that donating blood would directly affect her health and not guarantee safety, Thuy remained resolute : “ For me, participating in voluntary blood donation is a meaningful act, because my blood will contribute to saving lives and giving hope to many people. Just thinking about that makes me happy and joyful.”
"In the future, no matter the circumstances, if I'm still healthy enough, I will continue to participate in voluntary blood donation, including donating blood in emergency situations," Thuy shared. Her thoughts are simple and unpretentious, just like her personality, but they contain a passionate heart and a willingness to help others.
Besides participating in blood donation drives organized at her school, Thuy often took advantage of her days off, when enough time had passed between two blood donations, to proactively go to the Hematology and Blood Transfusion Center (Viet Tiep Friendship Hospital) to volunteer to donate blood.
Driven by a desire to share the burden and help those less fortunate who need blood transfusions to survive, Thuy has donated blood 22 times since 2018.

Representatives from the Trade Union of Hai Phong Medical College encouraged Ms. Thuy when she participated in voluntary blood donation.
Although not directly involved in treating patients, working in the field of education and training for healthcare professionals, Ms. Thuy is deeply aware of the message "One drop of blood given – one life saved." She has actively encouraged friends, relatives, and students at her school to participate in voluntary blood donation.
On her personal page, Thuy always shares gentle messages such as: "After donating blood, I feel younger and more beautiful," "I just hope I have enough time (3 months) to donate blood," "Exercise, improve your health, keep your blood clean for donation,"... attracting the attention and inquiries of many friends and relatives.
Thanks to this, Ms. Thuy also has another channel to promote and encourage people about the significance of the blood donation movement. Ms. Thuy recounted: "From worrying about my health, my family members now support me in participating in blood donation. Taking advantage of gatherings and reunions with relatives, I encourage my siblings, nieces, nephews, and younger relatives to register to participate."
Many freshmen, who have just enrolled, have asked me about participating in blood donation. I share my own experiences and guide them on how to persuade and convince their family members to agree to their blood donation."
Through her deeply humane actions, Ms. Thuy has contributed to raising awareness and responsibility among people participating in the "good people, good deeds" movement.
Nguyen Thi Nhat, Chairwoman of the Trade Union of Hai Phong Medical College, said: “Comrade Thuy is a shining example, a pioneering and active figure in the school's voluntary blood donation movement.
