Lesson 1: Proud to be an eighteen-year-old Party member

With a focus on nurturing outstanding 12th-grade students, many high school Party branches have created a source of high-quality young Party members for the Party. For 18-year-old Party members, this is a source of pride and honor, a testament to their maturity gained from their time in school.

Outstanding individuals

Coming from farming families, these outstanding students from Huynh Thuc Khang High School (Tien Phuoc district) were admitted into the Party ranks upon completing their 12th grade studies in the 2023-2024 school year.

The 18-year-old Party members admitted during the past school year at the Huynh Thuc Khang High School Party Branch are Vo Tang Bich Nho (Tien Loc commune), Huynh Thi Mai Ly (Tien Ky town), and Tran Van Hop (Tien My commune), all born in 2006. Notably, all three new Party members are the first in their families to join the Party.

Aware of the position of today's youth and with the support of their families, all three strived and trained hard to achieve their ideals. After joining the Party, all three probationary Party members of the Huynh Thuc Khang High School Party Branch successfully passed the entrance exams to their desired universities.

Party member Vo Tang Bich Nho shared: “In my family, I was the first to join the Party. Joining the Party, I aspire to and strive to be worthy of that ideal.”

During my time at school, I participated in many activities organized by the Youth Union and the school, so I gradually realized that I needed to do something while I was still young.

Having joined the Party at the young age of 18, I still have much more to train and develop to be worthy of the trust, teachings, and guidance of my teachers at Huynh Thuc Khang High School. Currently, I am a university student and will continue to strive and train myself to become more mature.”

Party member Huynh Thi Mai Ly expressed her joy that her dream of studying law had come true. Mai Ly entered university with the ambition of becoming a lawyer.

Mai Ly said: “My grandfather was involved in the revolution, so he often talked about the ideals of protecting the homeland and the revolutionary spirit for national independence of our forefathers. When I expressed my desire to join the Party, my parents both supported me. I will continue to strive to be officially admitted to the Party while at university.”

Train yourselves to be worthy of the Party's trust.

At the Party Branch of Luong The Vinh High School (Dien Ban town), the development of Party members among students is a priority. In the 2023-2024 school year, the school's Party branch nurtured and developed outstanding individuals into Party members.

Having joined the Party while still in 12th grade, Party member Phan Thi Hong (born in 2006, Dien Nam Dong ward) has self-disciplined herself through her own aspirations.

Hong's father works in the tourism service industry, and her mother is a factory worker in the Dien Nam - Dien Ngoc Industrial Zone. She is actively involved in many school and class activities. Dreaming of becoming a teacher, Hong was determined to pass the entrance exam to a teacher training university.

Phan Thi Hong shared: “My maternal grandfather was a war invalid, and I often heard him tell stories of fighting and sacrificing to protect the country during the resistance war. Hearing those stories, I always felt an indescribable pride in the generation of our ancestors and a desire to continue building and protecting our homeland in the future.”

I registered for the teacher training university entrance exam and am now a first-year student, entering the school as a probationary Party member. I hope that the university environment will help me mature, become more confident, and be better trained. As a Party member, I am always conscious of being exemplary in the activities of my class, faculty, and school in order to become a full Party member in mid-2025.”

For Dang Thi Kieu Vy (born in 2006, Dien Ngoc ward, Dien Ban town), because she studied history in depth, she has a great love and pride for her country's history.

Vy said that no one in her family is a Party member. However, through her experiences participating in activities to learn about the Party's history and activities organized by the school and the Youth Union, Vy longed to join the Party to become a more mature person.

Vy confided: “When I shared my ideals with my parents, I received tremendous support. I am still striving every day during my probationary period, so that I can officially join the Party ranks in May 2025.”

Emphasis should be placed on fostering positive sentiments towards the Party.

At the Party Branch of Huynh Thuc Khang High School (Tien Phuoc), the development of Party members among students is carried out in a sustainable manner, linked to the aspirations and desires of each student who is interested in joining the Party.

Mr. Cai Van Hung, Party Secretary and Principal of the school, said: “When students are in 11th grade, through the training process of the school's Youth Union, we will understand the thoughts and aspirations of each student, thereby guiding them. Joining the Party is a lifelong choice for each individual. Joining the Party means contributing to the development of the homeland and the country, so the awareness and choice of each individual cannot be a temporary one.”

During the 2023-2024 school year, the Party Branch of Huynh Thuc Khang High School admitted 3 students into the Party. Also during the 2023-2024 school year, the school's Party Branch provided guidance and training to 11 11th-grade students, with the aim of admitting them into the Party in the 2024-2025 school year if they meet the criteria. The school's Youth Union is tasked with mentoring and supporting students throughout their studies, starting from the moment they enter high school.

Outstanding individuals will be trained, receiving counseling, education, guidance, and political theory training in the 11th grade. When they enter the 12th grade, at the age of 18, they will be admitted to the Party and continue their training in a higher and broader environment.

For the Party Branch of Luong The Vinh High School (Dien Ban town), to effectively develop Party members among students, the school has included this in its 2024 Party member development plan. (Mr. Le Van Ngat)

The Party Branch Secretary and Principal of Luong The Vinh High School stated: “The Party Branch assigned specific tasks to the Youth Union in implementing the 2024 Party member development plan to all class Youth Union Secretaries. The school's Party Branch reviewed and compiled a list of outstanding individuals, nominated them to participate in political theory training courses, and submitted it to the Dien Ban Town Party Committee's Organization Department for a decision on convening them to participate in the Party membership orientation course. With this approach, the school's Party Branch has selected, nurtured, and admitted outstanding individuals into the ranks of the Party.”

From 2020 to the present, Quang Nam province has admitted 320 high school students and 41 university students into the Party, accounting for 4.6% of the total number of new Party members developed during this period. Among these, the number of new student Party members has shown a gradual increase over the years: 25 students in 2020; 41 students in 2021; 45 students in 2022; 56 students in 2023; and 153 students in the first six months of 2024.
