From the audience seats below, a soldier stepped onto the stage, holding a worn-out notebook. Before his comrades, he shared: “This notebook records the early days of uncertainty, the arduous training sessions, and the times I received encouragement and guidance from officers. Each page is a memory, a milestone that has helped me grow day by day in the military.” His simple words were enough to bring a somber atmosphere to the stage.

Soldiers participate in an exchange program as part of the "Following in the Footsteps of the Military" initiative. |
It was a memorable moment during the "Following in the Footsteps of the Military" farewell night for soldiers retiring in 2026 at the 330th Division, Military Region 9. Through activities such as "Backpack of Memories," "Late Letters," and "Letters to the Unit," the program created profound emotional connections.
Captain Duong Nhat Duy, Assistant for Mass Mobilization Affairs, Political Department, 330th Division, who directly advised and developed the program script, shared: “With the desire to create an open and emotional exchange night, not a rigid scripted event, the soldiers were able to tell their military stories from their own memories. When soldiers naturally share, the educational values will penetrate deeper than any spoken introduction.”
Sergeant Dang Minh Nhan, Squad Leader of Squad 1, Platoon 3, Company 2, SPG-9 Battalion, one of the soldiers preparing for discharge, emotionally expressed: “When participating in the 'Memory Backpack' game, looking back at each familiar item associated with the days of training and combat readiness, I understand that the time spent working at the unit is the most beautiful memory.”
Not only for soldiers who have completed their military service, "Following in the Footsteps of the Military" also carries profound educational significance for soldiers currently serving in the armed forces. Through shared stories and memories, young soldiers can clearly see the path to maturity taken by their predecessors, thereby gaining more motivation to strive and train.
Participating in the exchange night, Corporal Nguyen Be Vu, a soldier from Squad 2, Platoon 4, Company 2, Signal Battalion, expressed: “I clearly see the maturity of the older generation preparing for discharge through each story and memory shared. This makes us appreciate even more the time we are being trained in the military environment, reminding us to strive to study and train better every day, to work hard to complete our tasks well, and to be worthy of the pride of being in the ranks of the heroic 330th Division.”
The exchange night contributed to strengthening the bond between the military and the people, helping demobilized soldiers return to their localities with pride. They become "key figures" spreading the positive image of Uncle Ho's soldiers, continuing to develop the qualities they have honed in the military environment. For the unit, this is also an opportunity to summarize a period of education and affirm the effectiveness of the management and training of the troops.
