Homes of love and compassion
In early June, joy was evident on the face of Mr. Phan Van Buu, a disadvantaged farmer in Hanh village, Phu Thuan commune, as he received his new house from the "Farmers' Shelter" program. After many years living in a dilapidated house, his family was always worried about leaks and cracks in the walls during the rainy season. Now, his long-awaited dream of a safe place to live has become a reality.
Ms. Le Thi Anh, Chairwoman of the Phu Thuan Commune Farmers' Association, said that supporting the construction of houses for disadvantaged members is a practical activity, demonstrating the concern of all levels and sectors for social welfare at the grassroots level. These new houses not only help people settle down but also provide motivation for families to strive for economic development and gradually escape poverty.
This spirit of mutual support and compassion is also spreading strongly in Thang Truong commune. Recently, the commune's Farmers' Association, in coordination with Mr. Nguyen Hoai Nam, a businessman residing in Ho Chi Minh City, organized the groundbreaking ceremony for the construction of a house for Ms. Chau Thi Thao, a near-poor household with particularly difficult circumstances in Chau Khe village.

"I am very happy and grateful to receive support in building a house. With a new house, my family will feel more secure when the rainy and stormy season comes, and we will have more motivation to work and develop the economy to achieve a stable life," Ms. Thao shared.
According to Mr. Le Vu Bao, Chairman of the Farmers' Association of Thang Truong commune, the "House of Compassion" project for Ms. Thao is one of a series of activities supporting housing for the poor, near-poor households, and policy beneficiary families in the area.
“We will continue to mobilize members and local forces to provide labor support so that the project can be completed before the rainy season. This is not only material support but also demonstrates the spirit of solidarity and sharing with those in difficult circumstances,” said Mr. Le Vu Bao.
According to Mr. Bao, the locality has supported the construction of 9 houses for poor and near-poor households and families entitled to preferential policies, with a total budget of 900 million VND. Of these, 6 houses have been completed and put into use, and 3 are under construction and are expected to be completed in the third quarter of 2026.
Livelihood support for sustainable poverty reduction.
Besides housing support, many localities also focus on providing livelihood resources to help people develop production, increase income, and escape poverty sustainably.

In Ben Hien commune, the commune's Economic Department has implemented a model to support poor, near-poor, and disadvantaged households with native black pig breeds. Accordingly, 14 households in Ben Hien and Doc Gop villages have received a total of 70 piglets as a means of livelihood.
In addition, households received support including over 19 tons of animal feed and supplies for disease prevention and control. This pig breed is suitable for mountainous conditions, has good adaptability, is easy to care for, and provides stable economic returns.
According to Mr. Tran Van Trung, Head of the Economic Department of Ben Hien commune, from the end of 2025 to the present, the locality has supported 195 black pigs for 39 households. The program not only helps people earn extra income but also contributes to changing small-scale production methods, gradually forming efficient and sustainable livestock farming models.
"We expect that through providing breeding stock and technical guidance, households will have the opportunity to develop their economy, increase their income, and gradually escape poverty," Mr. Trung said.
In An Thang ward, the Women's Union also recently provided livelihood support to female members in difficult circumstances in the area.
According to Ms. Dang Thi Nhu Quynh, President of the Women's Union of the ward, in order to support members in developing family economies, increasing income and stabilizing their lives, the union has given 3 breeding cows, each worth 12 million VND, to disadvantaged women members including Ms. Tran Thi Kim Thu in Phong Nhat neighborhood, Ms. Le Thi Bay in Thanh Quyt 2 neighborhood, and Ms. Nguyen Thi Lan in Phong Luc Dong Nam neighborhood.
This is a practical activity demonstrating the spirit of mutual support and solidarity with poor women in economic development. Beyond providing livelihoods, the An Thang Ward Women's Union has also implemented many activities to support women's economic development, such as providing loans, job placement services, training in scientific and technical transfer, and guidance on building economic models suitable to the actual conditions of each family.
