NDO - On December 28th, in Vung Tau city, the Ministry of Science and Technology, in coordination with the People's Committee of Ba Ria-Vung Tau province, organized a scientific workshop titled "Implementing the Science and Technology Program to achieve net-zero emissions in Vietnam for the Southeast region".

Speaking at the workshop, Minister Huynh Thanh Dat stated that, in line with the Government and Prime Minister 's directives on implementing the science and technology research program to achieve net-zero emissions in Vietnam, the Ministry of Science and Technology has coordinated with agencies, organizations, scientists, and experts to urgently develop and issue the national science and technology program with code number KC.16/24-30, aiming to achieve net-zero emissions in Vietnam.

Net Zero will serve as a foundation for creating breakthrough solutions in carbon capture and storage technology, reducing greenhouse gas emissions, moving towards a green and circular economy, and improving the quality of life in Vietnam; promoting technological development, innovation, and job creation in the green technology sector; and simultaneously enhancing competitiveness, promoting green growth, and sustainable development in Vietnam.
Chairman of the People's Committee of Ba Ria-Vung Tau province, Nguyen Van Tho, stated that green development is a global trend and an inevitable path of development for Vietnam in general and Ba Ria-Vung Tau province in particular.
"Businesses that are well-prepared with emission reduction plans will be more proactive in sustainable development, aiming to meet the government's commitment to achieving Net Zero emissions by 2050 sooner."
The workshop "Implementing the Science and Technology Program to Achieve Net Zero Emissions in Vietnam for the Southeast Region" aims to provide arguments and scientific basis for proposing improvements to mechanisms, policies, standards, and solutions to enhance the effectiveness and efficiency of state management related to achieving net zero emissions in Vietnam.
Simultaneously, research, application, and transfer of advanced technologies in various industries and fields contribute to managing and inventorying greenhouse gas emissions; developing green, clean, and circular technologies; reducing consumption, shifting, and transforming energy; researching, developing, and applying new materials, new, green, and renewable energy sources in a way that reduces emissions; and capturing, utilizing, and storing carbon.
