The Kursk region is geographically important, becoming the focal point of fierce conflict between Russia and Ukraine, with many small villages caught in the vortex of the conflict.

Areas such as Russkoye Porechnoye, Novosotnitsky, Berdin, Malaya Loknya, and Novoivanovka in the Kursk province are all engulfed in the flames of war.

Here, both sides deployed their most elite forces. On the Russian side, they mobilized powerful units such as the 30th Motorized Rifle Regiment of the 72nd Motorized Rifle Division and the 2nd Special Operations Brigade of the Special Operations Directorate. of Russia, along with many other forces, are coordinating operations.

After hitting its target, the missile caused a massive explosion and created a huge mushroom cloud. The windows of surrounding high-rise residential buildings shattered due to the shockwave from the missile explosion, and the glass at the main entrance of a nearby supermarket was also damaged.

After analysis, experts believe that the massive explosion and mushroom cloud confirmed that the Russian attack targeted a Ukrainian ammunition depot. According to some Russian sources, the Russian airstrike on Dnipropetrovsk may have been the focus of their operation.

After being hit by a missile, the left annex of the Ukrainian Security Service building exploded, causing a fire. Numerous fire trucks and ambulances were present at the scene to carry out firefighting and rescue operations.

According to foreign media reports, the building housing the Ukrainian Security Service is actually a surveillance agency deployed by the British Military Intelligence Agency and the Ministry of Defence in Ukraine. Its surveillance targets are primarily Western Russia and Russian-controlled areas in Ukraine.

According to some reports, at least 30 Western intelligence officers were working in a building disguised as a humanitarian aid agency. Now, Russian missiles have leveled half the building, and it is certain that many more foreign intelligence personnel are buried under the rubble.

In the Kupyansk direction, the Russian Zapad forces improved their tactical situation. They attacked the forces and equipment of two Ukrainian mechanized brigades near Boguslavka, Dvurechnaya, Zagoruykovka, and Petropavlovka (Kharkov region). A Ukrainian counterattack was repelled.

In the Donetsk direction, the Russian Yug Army Group gained more advantageous lines and positions. Ukrainian special forces attacked Russian troops in Kursk, destroying five military vehicles.

According to the Kyiv Post, in a Telegram post on January 8, the SSO claimed to have destroyed five enemy armored vehicles in Kursk. However, information regarding the time and location of the video was not released.

The SSO added that it coordinated with the Ukrainian Defense Forces to thwart an attempt by Russian forces to attack an area in the Kursk border region. During the fighting, four Russian soldiers were killed while attempting to infiltrate Ukrainian positions.
