Abundant potential
As a border town, Tinh Bien has a semi-mountainous terrain with nearly two-thirds of its natural area unaffected by floods. Notably, this region boasts both plains and hills, with many famous scenic spots known to tourists from all over. Furthermore, Tinh Bien shares a land border with the Kingdom of Cambodia, offering potential for border trade and tourism development through the Tinh Bien International Border Gate. In particular, this border town serves as a key transportation hub, connecting major regional centers from Long Xuyen City and Chau Doc City to Ha Tien City, Rach Gia City, and Phu Quoc City (Kien Giang Province), making it very convenient for designing tourism tours and routes.
According to the Master Plan for Tourism Development in the Mekong Delta region until 2020, with a vision to 2030, and the tourism development orientation of An Giang province from 2014 to 2020, with a vision to 2030, Tinh Bien town is located in the western tourism space of the province, with the goal of exploiting its distinctive tourism products.
Tịnh Biên town possesses rich tourism potential.
In recent years, the locality has successfully exploited spiritual and cultural tourism products by connecting the Mount Sam National Tourist Area (Chau Doc City) with the Mount Cam Tourist Area, and connecting the Tinh Bien International Border Gate to Ha Tien City and Phu Quoc City (Kien Giang province), helping to form a unique tourism route in the Bay Nui region of An Giang. With these distinctive tourism activities, in 2024, the number of visitors to the town reached over 3.43 million, generating revenue of nearly 344 billion VND.
In terms of comparative advantage, Tinh Bien town is an area classified as having particularly difficult socio-economic conditions, receiving preferential investment rates and investment incentive periods. In addition, labor costs in the locality are also lower than elsewhere. The town also has many historical and cultural relics and festivals that attract a large number of visitors annually, such as the Bay Nui Bull Racing Festival, the Ba Chua Xu Bau Muop Festival, and the Doan Minh Huyen Commemoration Ceremony… which could be further developed into new tourism products.
Increase exploitation
To fully exploit the potential and strengths of tourism, the Town Party Committee and People's Committee of Tinh Bien have intensified efforts to attract investors to the locality. This includes continuing to invite investment in key tourism development projects such as: the Cam Mountain Tourist Area with 9 functional zones, ideal for developing health and wellness tourism; the Bau Muop Ecological Tourist Area (Nha Bang Ward - Thoi Son); the O Tuk Xa Lake and Ta Lot Lake Ecological Tourist Areas; and upgrading the Ro Pagoda Bull Racing Festival to develop additional services and tours to attract and retain tourists. At the same time, investors are being invited to the locality to exploit and develop eco-tourism, resort tourism, shopping, and adventure tourism at Dai Nam Gieng Mountain, Ket Mountain, and Ba Doi Mountain…
Recently, the Tinh Bien Town Party Committee and People's Committee connected with Sao Mai Group to explore new tours, routes, and tourism products in the locality. Sao Mai Group proposed several ideas related to projects: investing in electric vehicles to serve tourists at tourist areas and attractions; sponsoring cultural festivals and traditional festivals of the Kinh, Khmer, and Cham ethnic groups; building a resort in the Cam Mountain Forest Park complex, at the foot of Cam Mountain, to retain tourists on the group's existing land. With the Tra Su Melaleuca Forest, they could develop bungalows in the Southern Vietnamese style; and organize folk games characteristic of the riverine and Bay Nui regions…
Accordingly, the People's Committee of Tinh Bien town and Sao Mai Group have agreed to use electric vehicles for passenger transportation at tourist destinations. At the same time, Tinh Bien town proposed that Sao Mai Group promptly implement festivals and recreational activities to serve tourists during the April 30th holiday and in July (lunar calendar) 2025. Furthermore, they agreed on the need to effectively address environmental and transportation issues to meet tourist needs while ensuring appropriate and compliant planning. They also agreed to strengthen management and ensure security, order, and environmental standards to create a positive impression on tourists visiting this border town.
| According to Decision 1369/QD-TTg of the Prime Minister, Tinh Bien Town is one of the four dynamic urban centers of An Giang province, functioning as a border town, a hub for international trade through the Tinh Bien International Border Gate, closely linked to the Chau Doc - Long Xuyen economic corridor and the Tinh Bien - Chau Doc - An Phu - Tan Chau border corridor; and a center for tourism, trade, services, processing and manufacturing industries. |
