As a land with a long history and the economic, political , cultural, and social center of Lam Thao district, Lam Thao town has actively implemented the "All People Unite to Build New Rural Areas and Civilized Urban Areas" campaign over the years. Thanks to attracting the participation and support of all the people, the town has now built and completed 9 out of 9 criteria with 52 out of 52 indicators and criteria for a civilized urban town.

Lam Thao town currently has 2,444 households with 10,716 inhabitants, divided into 9 residential areas. It is bordered to the north by Lam Thao Superphosphate and Chemical Joint Stock Company and Thach Son commune; to the east by Chu Hoa commune (Viet Tri city); to the south by Son Vi and Phung Nguyen communes; and to the west by the Thao River. The town has a convenient transportation system, with National Highway 32C running through it; and is also home to the offices of various agencies, units, and numerous companies and businesses.

The local population has a relatively uniform level of education, favorable economic conditions with an average income of nearly 80 million VND per person per year, and a low poverty rate (0.79%). This area is also rich in historical relics, preserving many cultural values from the Hung King era. It has 19 religious and belief establishments, including 6 relics classified as provincial and national historical sites; notably, the Nha Ba Temple still preserves a translated version of the divine legend from the original Chinese text, 26 imperial decrees in Chinese, and a list of 14 deities from the family of Princess Nguyet Cu and her husband Ly Van Lang.

The Tan Son community center has been renovated and is now well-equipped to meet the community needs of the people.

To preserve, conserve, and promote local cultural values, develop and improve the quality of cultural and sports activities, and promote the "All People Unite to Build a Culturally Rich Life" movement in conjunction with the "All People Unite to Build New Rural Areas and Civilized Urban Areas" campaign, the town has diversified its information and propaganda activities to effectively serve political tasks. As a result, public awareness has been significantly raised. Currently, 100% of households have smart audio-visual equipment, 100% of households use clean and hygienic water according to regulations, and 100% of households have broadband internet subscriptions.

The work of socializing and mobilizing resources to invest in the construction of cultural institutions and serving cultural, artistic, and sports activities has been supported and actively participated in by the people. The percentage of culturally exemplary families in the town has consistently reached 99% or higher in recent years. The school system all meets national standards, with Cao Mai Primary School, Lam Thao Town Kindergarten, and Lien Co Lam Thao Kindergarten achieving national standard level 2, and Cao Mai Secondary School achieving national standard level 1.

In implementing the criteria for building a civilized urban town and model civilized residential area through diverse and varied forms of propaganda, the town has successfully mobilized the people to agree to land clearance, donate land, and relocate fences for the implementation of key projects and projects to renovate, upgrade, and expand transportation routes.

The community cultural center is fully equipped with all the necessary facilities to support community activities and movements.

As a leading residential area in building a civilized and model urban area, Tan Son residential area in Lam Thao town has always received the support of the majority of the people during the implementation process. Comrade Dam Duy Bay – Deputy Secretary of the Party branch and Head of Tan Son residential area – shared: Starting the construction of a civilized and model urban area in 2023, despite facing many difficulties regarding funding, the Party committee, Party branch, and various departments and organizations in the area recognized that the community cultural center was dilapidated. They mobilized the people to contribute to the construction and repair of the community cultural center. Currently, the area has a spacious cultural center with full functionality, including an assembly hall, kitchen, restrooms, a concrete courtyard of over 2,000m2, a tiled courtyard of 1,000m2, and an outdoor stage of over 100m2. The total cost of repairing the cultural center was over 800 million VND, not including labor and materials donated by families. The area also mobilized the people to support the installation of a sound system in the cultural center, 17 security cameras, and 5 solar-powered lights to improve the effectiveness of ensuring security and order in the area.

The transportation routes in Lam Thao town have been expanded and upgraded to meet the travel needs of the people.

Not only in Tan Son area, but also in other areas, the construction of a civilized urban environment has received widespread support from the people. The entire town has mobilized residents to donate over 3,100 square meters of land and 1,500 days of labor, and demolish 3,982 square meters of fences to expand roads. From 2023 to the present, the total resources mobilized for the construction of a civilized urban environment in the town amount to 402.618 billion VND, including 7.5 billion VND from the provincial budget, over 301 billion VND from the district budget, and over 72 billion VND from the town budget; 14.850 billion VND and 34,240 days of labor worth nearly 6.85 billion VND were mobilized from the people.

Comrade Nguyen Thi Lan Khuyen – Standing Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee and Chairwoman of the People's Council of Lam Thao town – stated: Through self-assessment of the total criteria for a civilized urban town, by December 2024, the town had built and completed 9 out of 9 criteria with 52 out of 52 indicators, achieving 100% of the plan. Currently, all 9 residential areas in the town have been recognized by the District People's Committee as model civilized areas. This result was achieved thanks to the town's Party Committee and government closely following the leadership and direction of the District Party Committee and the District People's Committee, focusing on leading and directing the Party branches and residential areas from multiple directions. The implementation process ensured transparency, democracy, and public awareness, participation, oversight, and benefit, thus receiving strong support from the people. In the coming time, Lam Thao town will continue to implement the program for building a civilized urban area, effectively restructuring the industrial, handicraft, and trade and service sectors. Maintain and improve the quality of criteria for building civilized urban towns and model civilized residential areas, and improve the living standards of the people.
