“Wonderland” is about people reuniting with their loved ones through Wonderland - a video calling service that uses AI (artificial intelligence) technology to revive the dead.
In the film, Suzy takes on the role of Jeong In - who saves her boyfriend Tae Joo (Park Bo Gum) through Wonderland while he is lying in bed after an accident.
Right before the movie's premiere, the "chemistry" between Suzy and Park Bo Gum as a couple attracted the attention of viewers.
At the press conference held on May 31 in Gangnam-gu, Seoul (South Korea), Park Bo Gum expressed his satisfaction when working with Suzy: "I had a good time working with Suzy.
When reading the script from Jeong In and Tae Joo's perspective, we often think about their story, how they express their feelings for each other, and how they show affection.
We took a lot of photos of each other and tried to capture the beautiful, precious moments that were not shown in the film. Together with the director, we constantly reviewed the script and perfected the narration" - Park Bo Gum shared.
Meanwhile, Suzy also revealed, “I had a lot of good memories while filming this project. In order to show everyone that Tae Joo and Jeong In have been together as lovers for a long time, we used a lot of props and reviewed the script a lot.
As we continued to work together, our chemistry as a couple naturally became more perfect.”
Speaking further about the character's acting constantly changing from AI to real person, Park Bo Gum confessed: "I consider Wonderland to be a strange and ideal world .
Based on the real Tae Joo, AI Tae Joo is brighter, healthier, and happier. I think this character was created after Jeong In added what she wanted to see in the real Tae Joo. In terms of acting, it wasn't too difficult or uncomfortable."
Suzy personally pointed out such characteristics of Tae Joo as the main point. “I wanted to show the parts where the conversation didn't go smoothly and communication wasn't effective.
“It’s a conversation between people, but there’s also a lot of weirdness. I tried to portray those aspects well,” the actress explained.
Also according to Park Bo Gum, if the Wonderland service existed in real life, he would not use it: “At first I wanted to try it.
I wish I could use the service as healthily as Harry (Jung Yu Mi), but I'm afraid that I might get so addicted to the service that I won't be able to put my phone down."
However, Suzy had a different thought: “It may be difficult to control, but I have a vague belief that I will be able to overcome it somehow, just like Jeong In did.
Instead, I thought about what it would be like if I became someone in the industry, but I wasn't sure what other people would think of me.”
Finally, Park Bo Gum confessed: “In this rapidly changing era, AI services will develop very quickly.
This is a film that makes you think and wonder whether you will be affected by such technology or will you adapt it to your life in a healthy way. I hope it will bring people a little meaningful comfort.”
“Wonderland” is scheduled to premiere on June 5 in Korea. In Vietnam, the film has not yet set a broadcast date.
