At the ceremony, 70 underprivileged children received gifts for International Children's Day on June 1st, funded by the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of the city. The Standing Committee of the City Youth Union registered to implement two youth projects in response to the Summer Volunteer Campaign, including: a solar-powered lighting project (20 lights installed in Vinh Nguon ward) and medical examinations for people in difficult circumstances, with a total value of 150 million VND.
Speaking at the launching ceremony, Vice Chairman of the Chau Doc City People's Committee Huynh Buu Toan requested the promotion of the Party's guidelines and the State's policies and laws on protecting, caring for, and educating children, especially the implementation of the Law on Children. He also called for the synchronized implementation of youth management and education activities during the summer; and the organization of recreational activities to create equal opportunities for children's development.
In addition, focus resources on improving cultural institutions to serve the needs of young people; review and popularize swimming for children; concentrate activities on guiding life skills, self-protection, prevention and combating violence and abuse against children, prevention and combating accidents and injuries, and other issues related to children, appropriate to their age, maturity level, and development, minimizing cases of child abuse to the lowest possible level.
