(HTV) - On the afternoon of April 27, leaders of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Foreign Affairs met with international reporters coming to the city to attend the Press Week on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification (April 30, 1975 - April 30, 2025).
At the meeting, Comrade Pham Dut Diem - Acting Director of the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Foreign Affairs and Comrade Pham Thu Hang - Director of the Press and Information Department, Spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs welcomed international reporters, especially 47 former war correspondents who reported on the war in Vietnam.

Thereby, highly appreciating the role of international reporters, especially those who were present on the battlefield in the South to record authentic films and articles conveying the truth about the Vietnam War, calling for international support for the people and the struggle of the Vietnamese nation.
50 years ago, the general offensive and uprising in the spring of 1975, which culminated in the historic Ho Chi Minh campaign, achieved complete victory, bringing the country into the era of national independence and socialism. In this historic victory, Vietnam did not forget the support of international friends, foreigners regardless of nationality, skin color, ethnicity, or political party have always been a great source of motivation for the Party and the Vietnamese people to bring Vietnam's revolutionary cause to great victories. With respect, the leaders of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the City's Department of Foreign Affairs hope that reporters will continue to support Vietnam in the process of integration and development with efforts to "rise up" after 50 years of national reunification.
Thanking the reception, representatives of international reporters said that they had directly witnessed the changes and development of Ho Chi Minh City, which used to be a fierce battlefield, and has now become the leading economic - cultural - scientific and technological center of Vietnam. At the same time, they expressed their confidence that with effective investment attraction policies, Ho Chi Minh City in particular and Vietnam in general will continue to reap many successes in many fields.
It is known that on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and the reunification of the country, there will be more than 630 domestic reporters and nearly 200 foreign reporters working in Ho Chi Minh City. In recent days, the city has organized tours for reporters to visit the city's outstanding achievements and places associated with the heroic history of our army and people in the struggle for independence and freedom.
