The Prime Minister has just signed Decision No. 1711/QD-TTg approving the Ho Chi Minh City Planning for the period 2021 - 2030, with a vision to 2050.
In terms of urban planning, by 2030, focus on arranging commune-level administrative units based on criteria of area and population. Develop urban and rural areas in the direction of "villages in cities, cities in villages", combining the preservation of inherent values and sustainable development.
In the future, Ho Chi Minh City will have 6 urban areas including Thu Duc City and 5 urban areas upgraded from 5 suburban districts.
Notably, continue to develop Ho Chi Minh City as a special urban area including the central urban area and 6 affiliated urban areas including: Thu Duc city (type I urban area) and 5 satellite urban areas that basically meet the standards to be upgraded to a city (including Cu Chi, Hoc Mon, Binh Chanh, Nha Be, Can Gio).
Forming new development spaces for the city through planning and constructing underground spaces, water spaces, and digital spaces. Deploying planning and constructing underground spaces in the city during the urban planning process.
The city space is organized in a multi-center, multi-functional direction and forms creative knowledge urban areas, industrial - urban - service areas with a city-in-a-city model. Appropriately develop buffer zones, ecological zones between urban areas and urban areas with the central urban area.
After 2030, start building urban areas according to the multi-center city model, including: central urban area, Thu Duc urban area, Cu Chi - Hoc Mon urban area, Binh Chanh urban area, District 7 - Nha Be urban area and Can Gio urban area (marine ecological urban area).
The official boundaries of urban areas are determined according to the urban establishment decision approved by competent authorities. By 2050, complete the construction of Ho Chi Minh City according to the multi-center city model.
