On the morning of December 29th, two entities, Saolatek Co., Ltd. and Vietnam Mobile Technology Joint Stock Company, signed a memorandum of cooperation, establishing a framework for coordination in testing the application of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) in delivery operations at the Ho Chi Minh City High-Tech Park.
The memorandum of understanding between the two entities is valid for a period of 3 years. Testing of the delivery UAV is expected to be conducted in the next phase at the Ho Chi Minh City High-Tech Park, in compliance with current regulations and with the agreement of all relevant parties.
Representatives from one of the two sides stated that it took them three years to research and bring the drone into practical application. According to the plan, this delivery drone will deliver within a range of 5-10km, at a speed of 40km/h (compared to a maximum design speed of 60km/h).
Mr. Nguyen Huu Yen, Deputy Director of the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Science and Technology, highly appreciated the cooperation between the two units in applying UAVs to delivery operations at the Ho Chi Minh City High-Tech Park. According to him, the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Science and Technology is also advising the city's leaders to conduct trials of this technology in two other areas in the near future: the Ho Chi Minh City National University area and the new city (formerly part of Binh Duong province).

The Low Altitude Economy (LAE) is an emerging economic ecosystem that utilizes airspace below 1,000 meters (or higher depending on demand) to develop technology-based services such as drones, AI, big data, serving agriculture, logistics, surveillance, communications, and entertainment. This creates new growth drivers and strategic opportunities, especially for Vietnam, which is in the early stages of developing this cutting-edge technology sector.
Using drones for cargo transportation is one of the important applications of the Low-Level Economy. Speaking to a reporter from Dan Tri newspaper, Mr. Tran Anh Tuan – representative of Saolatek and CEO of the Vietnam UAV (Unmanned Aerial Vehicle) Network, representing the Low-Level Economy Alliance (LAE) – said that if this niche is explored, Ho Chi Minh City could significantly reduce its environmental emissions.
