Ho Chi Minh City organizes the 2nd Short Film Festival.

Following the plan of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee, the Ho Chi Minh City Film Association has just announced the submission of works for the 2nd Ho Chi Minh City Short Film Festival, 2026.

The Ho Chi Minh City Short Film Festival is open to all professional and amateur filmmakers, with no limit on the number of entries. Works must have been made between November 2023 and March 31, 2026. The organizing committee is accepting entries until May 4th.

Entries must fall into three categories: feature films (maximum 20 minutes), documentaries (maximum 10 minutes), and animated films (maximum 7 minutes). The films must be in Vietnamese, have not previously participated in other film festivals, and must not violate the regulations of the Film Law and the Press Law.

In terms of subject matter, works reflecting the social life, people, and economic , cultural, and social development of Ho Chi Minh City today (after its merger with Ba Ria - Vung Tau and Binh Duong) are encouraged; works that praise positive aspects and criticize negative manifestations; the process of innovation, construction, and defense of the country and the city; positive movements and factors; protection of the sea and islands; tourism development; environmental protection, etc.

Regarding the awards, the organizing committee will present 1 First Prize, 1 Second Prize, 3 Third Prizes, and 3 Consolation Prizes to the entries in each film competition category.

With the creative contributions of the film crew, there will be awards for: Best Director, Best Screenplay, Best Cinematography, and Best Music. Outstanding, Outstanding Lead and Supporting Actors/Actresses...

According to the plan, the opening ceremony of the 2nd Ho Chi Minh City Short Film Festival 2026 is expected to be held on June 5-6; the awards ceremony and closing ceremony will take place on the evening of June 7 at the Phu Tho Circus and Multipurpose Performance Hall (Lu Gia Street, Phu Tho Ward, Ho Chi Minh City).
