At noon in early May, My Hanh Seafood – a famous and luxurious seafood restaurant located right on the My Khe beachfront – was packed with customers. The majority were Vietnamese, Korean, and Indian.
After each meal, guests are introduced to the culinary passport program being implemented by Da Nang 's tourism industry. Guests simply need to bring their passport, which staff will then flip open and stamp with a unique red seal representing the program and the words "DaNang Food Tour".

This isn't just a way to mark the places visited during your stay in the seaside city; the more stamps you collect, the more attractive discounts you'll receive at other restaurants. Besides the stamps, many groups of customers also receive a free kilogram of oysters after enjoying seafood. Customers don't take them home but eat them fresh on the spot.
The Culinary Passport project was launched to the public and tourists in late 2024 with extensive promotional campaigns. Visitors arriving at airports or visiting reception locations will be given a passport.
The paper size, colors, and details are designed similarly to a passport, but inside, it clearly lists each dining location and restaurant in Da Nang that is included in the program. Tourists simply need to bring their passport to get stamped at each place they visit, then collect the stamps to receive discounts, and even win prizes worth tens of millions of VND.
Food Festival
In late March, a food festival featuring 200 renowned regional dishes and many international cuisines was organized by the Da Nang City tourism industry on the shores of the East Sea.

Many people are curious and wonder if there is a new way to promote tourism, specifically through cuisine.
Mr. Nguyen Duc Quynh, General Director of Furama Resort Da Nang, stated that cuisine is a crucial "key element" that Da Nang's tourism industry needs to capitalize on. With its distinct and high-end clientele, Furama has long been a showcase and a place to treat visitors to culinary excellence.
“Da Nang is a center in Central Vietnam, and neighboring provinces like Quang Nam, especially the imperial city of Hue, are centers of exquisite cuisine. By bringing together chefs and organizing large-scale events, Da Nang will have a new and attractive product for tourists worldwide. That is its cuisine,” Mr. Quynh said.
Many restaurant and accommodation owners, as well as tourists, say that the idea of a Da Nang culinary passport, while not new, is a very good way to "benefit all three parties": Tourists can confidently eat and experience services at 50 culinary establishments recommended by the tourism industry. Business owners have the opportunity to increase their customer base and showcase their capabilities within the integrated tourism chain.
Most importantly, the (state-owned) tourism sector plays an intermediary role in creating high-quality products and tours that meet the experiential needs of tourists, contributing to spreading the image of Da Nang tourism.
Many tourists say that initially, upon receiving their culinary passports, they were curious to use them at various locations and enjoy attentive service along with discounts. However, most customers, after leaving the restaurant, rarely take their passports to redemption points or use the online portal; instead, they view it as a fun and unique experience.
“We were thrilled to collect so many stamps in our passports. We weren't collecting them to win prizes, but to take them back home as souvenirs of our time in Da Nang. It's like a 'trophy'," said a female tourist from South Korea while eating Quang noodles at Madame Lan restaurant on Bach Dang Street (Da Nang).
Over 10,000 culinary passports have been distributed to tourists.
The Da Nang Tourism Promotion Center announced that nearly 10,000 culinary passports have been distributed at various locations. In addition to passports, the tourism industry has also developed a digital culinary map at www.foodtourdanang.vn. This website provides information on local specialties, regional and international cuisine, 400 reputable and high-quality dining establishments selected by the Michelin Guide, and other useful information about culinary tourism in Da Nang.
According to statistics from the Da Nang Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, in the first two months of 2025, the total number of tourists staying in Da Nang was estimated at nearly 1.6 million, including an estimated 835,700 international tourists (an increase of 48.3%) and an estimated 731,800 domestic tourists. Notably, revenue from food and beverage services reached nearly 3,000 billion VND, an increase of 18.6% compared to the same period.
