Simone Inzaghi's playing career was overshadowed by the immense presence of his older brother, Filippo Inzaghi. However, in their managerial roles, the younger Inzaghi is the true "elder brother."
And now, coach Simone Inzaghi stands before a historic moment as Inter Milan faces Manchester City in the 2022-2023 Champions League final, taking place on the morning of June 11th (Vietnam time). “This is the most important match of my life. I believe that’s also the thought of some of the players. Reaching the Champions League final is a fitting reward for our efforts after a long and arduous year,” said coach Simone Inzaghi.

Coach Simone Inzaghi began his coaching career at Lazio in 2016, immediately making a strong impression with a Coppa Italia title in 2019; two Italian Super Cups in 2017 and 2019 (both wins against Juventus) and a place in the Champions League for the 2020-2021 season, enough to attract the attention of Inter Milan's leadership.
Coach Simone Inzaghi arrived at Inter Milan in 2021 when the club was on the verge of a complete crisis following the departure of coach Antonio Conte. Simultaneously, the team sold Romelu Lukaku and Achraf Hakimi, two stars of the Scudetto-winning campaign, to balance the budget. Simone Inzaghi, with his resourcefulness, got to work instead of complaining. He created tactical systems that helped maximize the team's potential. Although they didn't win the Serie A title that season, Simone Inzaghi helped Inter Milan win the Coppa Italia and the Italian Super Cup, as well as lead the Nerazzurri to the Champions League final.
The match against Manchester City is the Champions League final after a 13-year wait, since Inter Milan last won it in 2010. Since then, no team in Serie A has lifted this prestigious trophy. The final against Manchester City takes place a year after Inter Milan were eliminated by Liverpool in the round of 16, also in the Champions League. That defeat against Liverpool provided valuable experience that helped Simone Inzaghi's team march towards Istanbul (Türkiye), where Guardiola's squad eagerly awaited them.
Having won seven cup finals in the Italian Cup and the Italian Super Cup, coach Simone Inzaghi has been nicknamed "The King of Cups." The 47-year-old coach accepted the praise with full confidence: "I like the nickname 'The King of Cups.' I always faced strong teams when managing Lazio and Inter Milan. In those finals, we always attacked and defended well. We will do the same with Manchester City."
