Designer Cuong Dam released a fashion photo series inspired by mathematics on Vietnamese Teachers' Day, November 20.

Cuong Dam invited his parents - two teachers at Tu Son Secondary School, Bac Ninh - to model for the photo series. The designer said his parents have taught Math for more than 40 years and are about to retire. "The photo series is like a beautiful memory that I want to keep for them before they both say goodbye to their familiar school, as well as to show gratitude to their teachers," he said.

Ms. Dam Mai Chi wears an oversized dress combined with a shirt inspired by mathematical shapes.
According to Cuong Dam, mathematics is present in many aspects of life: the proportions of a garment, architectural lines, and the laws of the universe. He said: "Among the seemingly dry numbers, symbols, and shapes of mathematics, life and love were born. It is like the story of my parents' career and love, the two met in the pedagogical lecture hall, felt connected, and connected through mathematical equations."

Mr. Dam Ngoc Oanh wears a vest combined with a circular shield inspired by a blackboard, white chalk, mixed with a futuristic feel.

The moment the designer's parents hold hands symbolizes the close connection between mathematical equations, and is also a way to express two souls interacting and in harmony with each other emotionally when they meet.

To refresh the classic suit, Cuong Dam used details from his father's leather briefcase and attached them to his outfit.

At nearly 60 years old, Mrs. Mai and Mr. Oanh experienced the feeling of being photo models for the first time in a whole day at the studio. Cuong Dam said the difficult part of this project was convincing his parents to participate. At first, his father flatly refused. After his son patiently persuaded him, he nodded in agreement.

The 10kg black shift dress has hundreds of white chalk pieces attached along the body of the dress, creating a unique shape and color contrast.

Ms. Mai said that the heavy costumes made it difficult for her to act naturally. But when she saw her son and the crew constantly adjusting the lighting, arranging, and coordinating, she was more motivated to take pictures.

The photo series also features students from Tu Son Secondary School.

In addition to the white powder dress, Ms. Mai also wore an A-line dress with round eyelets.
Cuong Dam was born in 1990 in Hanoi , graduated from the University of Architecture and the London College for Design and Fashion. He rose to fame with the shows Inflowing and Rendezvous . Cuong Dam's designs have a strong architectural style through the way they are shaped, aiming for a luxurious style that can be worn in many situations.
