On April 2nd, in Hanoi , the Danish Embassy held an awards ceremony for its annual "Denmark Through My Eyes" contest.

With the theme "Green Ideas," this year's competition attracted more than 24,600 entries from students from 260 schools and clubs across the country.

The Special Prize was awarded to Nguyen Hoang Thinh, a 6th-grade student from Hanoi Victoria School (Hanoi), for his painting "Green World - Green Future" made from fabric scraps.

“I hope to inspire and encourage my friends and those around me to join hands in protecting our planet and environment. By reusing discarded materials to create meaningful works of art, I want to celebrate the beauty of the world, the beauty of life, and at the same time strive for sustainable values,” shared Nguyen Hoang Thinh.

Speaking at the awards ceremony, Danish Ambassador Nicolai Prytz affirmed that the competition had created a forum for Vietnamese students to raise awareness and express concerns about climate and environmental issues, as well as to present inspiring ideas. The competition also demonstrated the strong passion and commitment of Vietnamese youth in creating a green and sustainable future for all of us.

“Young people play a crucial role in building society and driving positive change. In Vietnam, young people have many opportunities to participate in social activities and create a positive impact. One of those opportunities is participating in the painting competition 'Denmark Through My Eyes - Green Ideas',” the Ambassador said.

The Denmark Through My Eyes contest, co-organized by the Danish Embassy and the Vietnam-Denmark Friendship Association (VIDAFA), was first held in 2016 to commemorate the 45th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Vietnam and Denmark. Since then, the contest has been held annually or biennially with a new theme each year, largely focusing on the environment and green topics.

The core of the partnership between Denmark and Vietnam is green growth and green transition towards a sustainable society. Therefore, the "Denmark Through My Eyes" competition is a unique opportunity to enhance the participation of Vietnamese youth in the country's green transition. The competition also adds a valuable piece to the ongoing government-level cooperation program within the framework of the Vietnam-Denmark Green Strategic Partnership.
