Mr. Dinh Van Dung's family in Xuan 2 area, Dong Son commune, was delighted to receive a buffalo as part of the project.

The project to breed female buffaloes in Dong Son commune is one of three communes in Tan Son district that have registered to implement the project. Comrade Ha Thanh Giap - Chairman of the People's Committee of Dong Son commune, said: "We built the model based on the actual needs of the people and the economic and natural conditions of the locality. People register for whichever livestock or crops are suitable so that they can benefit from and make good use of the State's policies. Accordingly, the community group proposed to raise breeding female buffaloes. After discussions and meetings to select participating households, the commune developed a plan for raising breeding female buffaloes, which was approved. Currently, 26 households are receiving 26 breeding female buffaloes: 6 poor households, 8 near-poor households, 7 newly escaped poverty households, 3 experienced households, and 1 household with a successful economic production, all living in the Mit 1 and Xuan 2 areas. The households raise the buffaloes using a combination of confined and managed grazing. The project helps create jobs for at least 26 rural laborers; 26 families benefit, improving the quality of life for the people and increasing their income." This contributes to effective poverty reduction and stabilizes the lives of people in Khu Mít 1 and Xuân 2 areas of the commune. It is expected that 100% of households participating in the project will escape poverty after the project ends."

In mid-2024, the Sind crossbred cattle breeding cooperative in Vinh Tien commune received 83 Sind crossbred cows. The project distributed them to 34 poor households, 7 near-poor households, 6 households that had escaped poverty, 11 households that had escaped near-poverty, and 25 households with experience in cattle farming. Each cow cost nearly 20 million VND; of which the State provided 90%, and the remaining 10% was contributed by the farmers. Before receiving the cows, the households had fully prepared their barns to ensure suitable breeding conditions; they received training on techniques, feeding methods, care, disease prevention, and feed processing and storage. To date, 6 cows have given birth to 6 calves.

Tan Son District has 17 communes and 172 villages, with ethnic minorities accounting for 82.5% of the population. They mainly depend on agriculture for their livelihoods, and the natural conditions are not very favorable. The level of education is uneven, and production practices remain largely backward. As a result, the poverty rate among ethnic minorities in Tan Son District is currently very high. With the motto "all ethnic groups are equal, united, respectful, and help each other to develop together," over the years, Tan Son District has actively and effectively implemented policies to improve the material and spiritual lives of ethnic minorities. From the program's funding, Tan Son District has allocated over 20.4 billion VND to implement 45 projects in all 17 communes of the district. These include 20 cattle projects, 8 buffalo projects, 3 combined cattle and buffalo projects, 1 goat project, 12 machinery projects, and 1 tea project. This includes: 325 buffaloes, 579 cows, 210 goats, 141 tillage machines, 60 lawn mowers, 5 rice threshing machines, 1 water pump, and 18.5 hectares of tea plantation.

Production development support projects have helped poor and near-poor households in the area gradually transform their economic models, create jobs, increase household income, and contribute to sustainable poverty reduction. Participating households are guided in applying technical procedures for caring for and treating diseases in livestock, and contributing households build barns to ensure hygienic housing. Communes develop projects and proactively purchase livestock breeds suitable to the production level and needs of each poor household. At the same time, all groups of households participating in the livestock development support projects receive training in techniques for caring for and preventing diseases in livestock.

Comrade Tran Khac Thang - Vice Chairman of the District People's Committee, said: “The district has focused on directing agencies, units, and communes to closely adhere to the regulations of the Central Government and the guidance of the province, proactively advising and promptly implementing projects and sub-projects under the National Target Program to support the people, ethnic minorities, poor households, near-poor households, and newly escaped-from-poverty households. During the direction and implementation process, attention has been paid to integrating support resources from various National Target Programs to create positive changes, increase people's access to basic social services, provide more conditions for production development, job creation, and improved living standards, impacting poverty reduction and the effectiveness of achieving the district's poverty reduction goals. In addition to production support, in poverty reduction efforts, the District People's Committee also provides support for eliminating dilapidated houses; support for vocational training and job placement; support for healthcare and medical treatment; and support for clean water and sanitation.” environmental protection; electricity subsidy...
