The recent floods caused many schools in the eastern part of the province to be deeply submerged, damaged facilities, and hundreds of students lost or damaged all their books and school supplies. In this situation, from November 25 to December 2, 2015, the Youth Union of the Department of Science and Technology launched a donation campaign at two reception points in Tuy Hoa and Buon Ma Thuot wards; at the same time, proactively connected with donors and units to join hands to support and promptly share difficulties.

At the program, the Youth Union presented nearly 1,300 gifts to students of 03 schools that suffered heavy damage, including: An Hiep Primary School (O Loan Commune), Xuan Quang 3 Primary School (Xuan Phuoc Commune) and Son Giang Primary School (Duc Binh Commune). Each gift included essential items such as notebooks, pens, rulers, school bags and blankets. Representatives of schools and localities expressed their emotion at the timely support of the Youth Union. Mr. Do Tan Dung, Vice Principal of Son Giang Primary School, said: “The recent flood caused the entire first floor of the school to be deeply submerged, many items were severely damaged, 100% of students were affected because books and belongings were washed away or damaged. In that situation, the concern of the Youth Union of the Department of Science and Technology and sponsors was a great source of encouragement for teachers and students of the school. The gifts not only have material value but also show the spirit of sharing, helping students feel more confident when returning to school.”
With a total budget of nearly 300 million VND, this volunteer activity contributes to restoring learning conditions for students in flood-affected areas, while demonstrating the pioneering role of youth in community-based programs.
