The recent floods caused severe inundation of many schools in the eastern part of the province, damaging infrastructure and resulting in hundreds of students losing or having all their books and school supplies damaged or destroyed. In response to this situation, from November 25th to December 2nd, 2015, the Youth Union of the Department of Science and Technology launched a fundraising campaign at two collection points in Tuy Hoa ward and Buon Ma Thuot city; simultaneously, they proactively connected with benefactors and organizations to jointly support and share the difficulties faced by the students.

During the program, the Youth Union distributed nearly 1,300 gifts to students of three severely damaged schools: An Hiep Primary School (O Loan commune), Xuan Quang 3 Primary School (Xuan Phuoc commune), and Son Giang Primary School (Duc Binh commune). Each gift included essential items such as notebooks, pens, rulers, school bags, and blankets. For Hoa My Dong Kindergarten (Hoa My commune), the delegation donated 160 children's folding beds along with snacks and warm clothes for the children.

Representatives from schools and localities expressed their gratitude for the timely support from the Youth Union. Mr. Do Tan Dung, Deputy Principal of Son Giang Primary School, said: “The recent flood caused the entire first floor of the school to be deeply submerged, with many facilities severely damaged. 100% of the students were affected as their books and supplies were swept away or damaged. In that situation, the concern of the Youth Union of the Department of Science and Technology and the sponsors is a great source of encouragement for the teachers and students of the school. The gifts not only have material value but also demonstrate a spirit of sharing, helping the children feel more confident when returning to school.”
With a total budget of nearly 300 million VND, this charitable activity contributes to restoring learning conditions for students in flood-affected areas, while also demonstrating the pioneering role of young people in community service programs.
