To ensure oral hygiene for your baby, you can use sterile gauze, wrapped around your finger, moistened with physiological saline solution (0.9% Sodium Chloride), and gently wipe the baby's tongue, the inside of the cheeks, the palate, gums, and lips. Do this at least once a day or whenever the baby's tongue seems dirty to prevent oral thrush (it's best to do this before feeding to avoid vomiting). When the baby is 6 months old and starts eating solid foods, you can provide a small amount of cooled boiled water, but this should not replace breast milk. Breastfeeding should continue until 24 months for the baby's overall development.
