In motherland Hoa Dong

Formed more than 400 years ago, associated with the land reclamation process of Phu Nghia Marquis Luong Van Chanh, Hoa Dong commune (Tay Hoa district) is a fertile land located in the southwest of Tuy Hoa plain. Every inch of land of this peaceful countryside is soaked with sweat, tears and blood of heroic martyrs, associated with the event of Hoa Dong's mother blocking enemy tanks.

Coming to this countryside in the early days of the new spring of Giap Thin, we were amazed by the changes and improvements in many aspects of our motherland Hoa Dong. The central area of the commune is no different from a town. The rice fields are green, promising a bountiful harvest. The pink lotus fields spread out fragrantly…

Glorious revolutionary tradition

Before 1945, when the revolutionary movement in Tuy Hoa was still in the dark, the first revolutionary seeds of Tuy Hoa district appeared on the land of Hoa Dong and continuously developed, strong enough to lead the local people to successfully carry out the August general uprising, taking power into the hands of the people.

During the 9 years of resistance against the French colonialists (1945-1954), Hoa Dong was the western corridor of the province, organizing hundreds of battles to prevent enemy attacks, and was also the rear base providing a lot of human and material support to the battlefields of the Central Highlands and Northern Khanh Hoa .

During the resistance war against the US to save the country, Hoa Dong was an important strategic area of Tuy Hoa district, where the enemy continuously swept through, and where we and the enemy were fiercely fighting. During that fierce struggle, in addition to the armed struggle and military agitation, the political struggle movement of the Hoa Dong people developed strongly, becoming one of the peaks in the Central region, with the appearance of the Hoa Dong mothers standing tall in the rice fields to block the enemy's tanks that were sweeping and trampling their homeland, maintaining the movement and the commune's concave base area.

Towards the end of the war, the army and people of Hoa Dong contributed greatly to the raid on the enemy retreating from the Central Highlands to the Tuy Hoa plain, contributing to the historic victory on Route 5.

During the two resistance wars, more than 500 elite young men of Hoa Dong joined the army and heroically sacrificed themselves. Many families sacrificed their last loved ones. Many mothers sacrificed their last and only children for the war.

After the day the homeland and country were liberated, singing a song of triumph, the Party and the People of Hoa Dong unanimously agreed to build the homeland, creating great changes in all fields.

Positive changes

Coming to Hoa Dong these days, along the wide roads leading to the villages are green rice fields, fragrant pink lotus fields. The long irrigation canal system has been solidified... That scene partly demonstrates the socio -economic picture of a countryside that is on the rise.

According to Mr. Nguyen Quoc Thang, Secretary of the Party Committee of Hoa Dong commune, revolutionary tradition is an invaluable asset, a source of great encouragement and motivation, and also requires the Party Committee, government and local people to find ways to promote that tradition in economic and cultural development, and to carry out the work of gratitude in a worthy manner.

Accordingly, the Party Committee and the People's Committee of the commune have focused on leading, directing and operating resolutely; seriously and promptly implementing the directive documents of the District People's Committee, resolutions of the Party Committee and the People's Council of the commune. With the participation of the entire political system and the consensus of all classes of people, the socio-economic situation of Hoa Dong continues to develop, national defense and security are maintained stable.

The national target program on new rural construction has been implemented synchronously, bringing about practical results. Officials and civil servants have promoted their sense of responsibility in performing their duties; carried out advisory work and reported promptly. In 2023, the total social investment capital reached 42.5 billion VND, exceeding the plan by 11.84%, up 16.21% compared to 2022.

Mr. Nguyen Dinh (80 years old) in Phu Dien Ngoai village, acknowledged: Hoa Dong today has made great strides in development compared to before. Infrastructure such as electricity, roads, schools, and stations are now complete. Now people no longer worry about having enough to eat and warm clothes, but think about eating well, dressing well, and getting rich...

In particular, the commune has also improved its working style, implemented administrative reforms well, guided and promoted organizations and individuals to submit administrative procedures online through the provincial public service portal at the commune one-stop department.

Hoa Dong is also a locality that does a good job in mass mobilization, maintaining and implementing many new rural construction models such as: Lighting up rural roads; planting flowers along inter-village and inter-commune roads to create a green - clean - beautiful environment; building and expanding model roads and model cultural houses. 19/19 criteria of new rural communes are maintained. The total cultivated area is up to 971 hectares.

The local traditional industries continue to develop steadily. In particular, Vinh Ba village's weaving craft village maintains the production of products from rattan, bamboo, plastic and handicrafts, products consumed in and outside the province, creating jobs for over 200 workers.

In 2023, the budget revenue reached more than 3.1 billion VND, exceeding 3.37% of the district's assigned estimate and reaching 100% of the commune's target, up 3.68% over the same period in 2022. Hoa Dong is focusing on promoting the application of information technology in handling administrative work, gradually moving towards e-government, digital government...

“Educating the young generation on the tradition of drinking water and remembering its source has always been of interest to the Party Committee, the government and organizations in the commune through practical actions such as: Regularly coordinating to care for, visit and encourage families of wounded soldiers, families of martyrs and Vietnamese Heroic Mothers.

In 2023, the commune has prepared a dossier to request superiors to support the construction, repair, acceptance and use of 5 houses for policy beneficiaries, reaching 100% of the target assigned by the district; coordinated with the Vietnam Fatherland Front and charitable organizations to support the construction of houses for 5 poor households, exceeding 400% of the target assigned by the district", said Chairman of the People's Committee of Hoa Dong Commune Dinh Ngoc Sum.

Leaving Hoa Dong, although somewhere in the people's lives there are still difficulties, but with what we see and hear, we believe in the transformation and sustainable development of this land. With the revolutionary tradition and the spirit of daring to think, daring to do for the benefit of the people, this place will become a prosperous and vibrant land.

Hoa Dong has gone through many difficulties and challenges on the way to finding a suitable direction. Until today, Hoa Dong people have the right to be proud of the positive changes taking place in their homeland. The achievements are thanks to the efforts of the Party Committee, the government and the people of Hoa Dong commune.
