(NADS) – To express gratitude and honor the great contributions of composer Phan Huynh Dieu, the Vietnam Musicians Association, in coordination with the Da Nang City People's Committee and partner organizations, is organizing a series of events to commemorate the 100th anniversary of his birth (November 11, 1924 – November 11, 2024). The activities will take place from November 8 to 18, 2024.
Composer Phan Huynh Dieu, one of the outstanding composers of 20th-century Vietnamese revolutionary music, was a native of Da Nang. He left a profound mark on national music with works closely linked to the country's historical milestones. His musical career not only brought glory to Da Nang but also affirmed its timeless influence. From familiar folk melodies, chants, and lullabies, Phan Huynh Dieu skillfully transformed them into masterpieces.
To honor and pay tribute to him, this series of events will include three main activities: a seminar on "The Life and Composition of Composer Phan Huynh Dieu" (November 8th at Tien Son Sports Palace); an exhibition on "Phan Huynh Dieu – A Bird Flying Home" (from November 8th to 18th at the Da Nang Museum of Fine Arts); and an art program titled "Composer Phan Huynh Dieu – Love Remains." The highlight is the art program, scheduled to be broadcast on the following channels: Vietnam Central and Central Highlands Radio and Television (VTV8), Da Nang Radio and Television, Ho Chi Minh City Television (HTV), and Vietnam National Defense Television (QPVN)...
The art program will feature many famous artists, such as People's Artist Ta Minh Tam, Meritorious Artist Anh Tuyet, Meritorious Artist Khanh Ngoc, Meritorious Artist Vu Thang Loi, Meritorious Artist Van Khanh, Meritorious Artist To Nga, Meritorious Artist Pham The Vi, singer Ngoc Son, singer Thanh Tra, MTV group, Red Sun group, Da Nang Children's group, and many other artists.
The event is an opportunity for present and future generations to remember, appreciate, and continue the values that composer Phan Huynh Dieu contributed to the country and Vietnamese music.
