Authorities dismantled a large-scale illegal lottery ring.

The Buon Ma Thuot City Police are expanding their investigation and prosecuting individuals involved in a large-scale gambling ring and organized gambling operation using the lottery system.

After a long period of persistent monitoring and investigation, the Buon Ma Thuot City Police, in coordination with the professional departments of the Provincial Police, recently mobilized dozens of officers and soldiers, divided into many teams, to simultaneously inspect and catch red-handed 10 locations engaging in illegal lottery betting for gamblers. As a result, the police seized 16 mobile phones along with many documents and evidence used in the illegal lottery betting operation; and escorted 12 related individuals to the police station for questioning and clarification.

Police are currently taking statements from individuals involved in the illegal lottery ring.

Initially, the police determined that this illegal lottery ring was led by Nguyen Thi Bich Tram (born in 1979, residing in Thanh Nhat ward, Buon Ma Thuot city); it had been operating from the beginning of 2022 until now and involved 25 individuals. On average, the suspects received lottery bets from gamblers totaling over 200 million VND per day.

This is a highly sophisticated illegal lottery ring. The operators don't receive bets directly but instead send them via text messages and social media platforms like Viber, Zalo, Messenger, and Telegram. At the end of the day, they calculate the winnings and losses based on the lottery results from the Central and Northern lottery companies. All messages are then deleted.
