Authorities dismantled an inter-provincial motorcycle theft ring.

On December 18th, according to information from the Vinh City Police ( Nghe An province ), the unit successfully cracked a case involving the theft and sale of stolen vehicles, seizing 25 motorcycles worth over 500 million VND and many other valuable assets.

Earlier, at approximately 10:00 AM on December 15th, the special task force implemented a comprehensive set of operational measures to arrest Tran Thien Nhan (born in 2007, residing in Nghi Kim commune, Vinh City), Nguyen Le Van Minh (born in 2007, residing in Le Mao ward), Le Nguyen Quang Minh (born in 2007, residing in Ha Huy Tap ward), Phan Cong Gia Bao (born in 2006, residing in Hung Phuc ward), Vuong Chien Truong (born in 2004, residing in Hung Loc commune), N.D.N (born in 2008), Tran Viet Hao (born in 2007), NVT (born in 2008), Nguyen Hong Quan (born in 2008), all residing in Nghi Phong commune, Nghi Loc district, and 8 other individuals (aged 16-20, all residing in Vinh City) for the crime of theft.

Evidence seized in the case.

According to the police investigation, most of these young men had dropped out of school, were idle and addicted to video games, so they conspired to steal property to sell for money to spend. They met through social media and took advantage of the negligence of people and security guards in managing and watching over motorbikes to break locks, steal vehicles, and then sell and dispose of the stolen property to get money for their expenses.

Using the above method, from December 5, 2024, until the time of their arrest, the suspects committed 16 motorcycle thefts in Vinh City and Ha Tinh Province, stealing 25 motorcycles worth over 500 million VND.

To date, the Vinh City Police (Nghe An province) have recovered 25 motorbikes and returned them to the victims. They are also continuing to investigate and expand the case.
