Bayern Munich is Atalanta's biggest challenge in this season's Champions League.

Atalanta will host Bayern Munich at the Gewiss Stadium in Bergamo at 3:00 AM on March 11th, in the first leg of the Champions League round of 16.

While Bayern went straight to the knockout round after the classification stage, Atalanta had to overcome a dramatic play-off round to advance.

Nevertheless, Atalanta are somewhat confident when facing German teams. They have only lost three of their previous 14 encounters with Bundesliga representatives. However, Bayern Munich is a challenge of a completely different caliber.

Coach Vincent Kompany's team is having a very impressive season. Bayern have won 35 out of 40 matches in all competitions and lost only twice. In the Champions League, their only defeat was against Arsenal.

"Die Roten" won seven of their eight group stage matches. PSG and Chelsea were both defeated by Bayern on that run.

Bayern's goalscoring form has also been impressive. They have scored 92 goals in the Bundesliga this season and are just nine goals short of the league's all-time scoring record.

Last weekend, even without Harry Kane, Bayern still beat Borussia Monchengladbach 4-1. Luis Diaz, Jamal Musiala, Konrad Laimer, and Nicolas Jackson were the goalscorers, giving the German team a perfect warm-up before their away match in Bergamo.
