MU is expected to continue its winning streak. |
Newcastle United's form in the Premier League is truly alarming. Eddie Howe's team is currently struggling in the lower half of the table and is even closer to the relegation zone than the top four in terms of points.
Newcastle have won only one of their last seven league matches (one draw, five losses), and their 2-3 defeat to Everton at St James' Park last weekend only deepened the disappointment. Even more worrying, it was their third consecutive home defeat in the league, their worst run of form since October 2018. Manager Eddie Howe admitted that the team twice equalizing only to concede again within two minutes was "unacceptable".
Conversely, Manchester United are showing impressive resilience. Their 2-1 comeback victory against Crystal Palace earned them a total of 9 points from falling behind, the most in the league before this round, and propelled them into the top 3. Michael Carrick's team is unbeaten in 11 matches (7 wins, 4 draws), and on the road, they have only lost 1 of their last 11 away games.
However, the head-to-head history at St James' Park is not in United's favor, as they have lost their last three encounters there. Newcastle also tend to perform well in home games played in the evening, but their record against top-seven teams is very poor.
The upcoming match therefore promises to be very dramatic, especially with Bruno Fernandes in excellent form in terms of assists, and Jacob Murphy always knows how to make a difference in notable encounters.
