Quan Chuong Gate, Hanoi
Here, approximately 170 documents and images about the history, role, and transformation of Hanoi's city gates throughout different periods will be widely displayed. The exhibition content is divided into three main themes: "Ancient City Gates," "Victory City Gates," and "Hanoi City Gates Today."
Through historical sources, images, maps, drawings, Sino-Vietnamese and French documents, the exhibition recreates the history of Hanoi's city gates; providing the most vivid and intuitive view of social life activities around the city gates and the disappearance of most of them in the late 19th and early 20th centuries.
The images and documents also introduce the process of taking over Hanoi (October 10, 1954) and the development of the capital city since the reunification of the country to the present day.
The exhibition includes "Ancient City Gates," which introduces the history of the formation of the city gates of Thang Long - Hanoi; and "Victory City Gates," which recounts the historical story of the troops advancing from the city gates to take over Hanoi in October 1954, especially the victory flag-raising ceremony at the Flagpole Stadium on October 10, 1954.
The exhibition "Hanoi's Gateways Today" showcases the face of Hanoi in the process of industrialization and modernization; it has been awarded the title of "City for Peace" by UNESCO and is a member of the Creative Cities Network.
The archival exhibition "Hanoi and its Gates" will open on October 7th at the Thang Long Imperial Citadel heritage site.
