Speaking with a reporter from Nguoi Lao Dong Newspaper , Mr. Nguyen Thai Vinh Nguyen, Head of the Department of Education and Training of Thu Duc City, said that the entrance exam for grade 6 at Tran Quoc Toan 1 Secondary School was conducted with a number of requirements: Only students who actually reside in Thu Duc City are allowed to participate in the entrance exam, and the grade 5 test scores are not required.

According to Mr. Nguyen, first, parents and students will register for admission to the first grade classes on the online admission system as usual, then those who want to register for admission to Tran Quoc Toan 1 Secondary School will take an additional English proficiency assessment test. Those who are not admitted to Tran Quoc Toan 1 Secondary School will still be arranged a place to study according to the regulations of the Thu Duc City Primary Admission Steering Committee.

Tran Quoc Toan 1 Secondary School is a school implementing the advanced school model.

Because the 6th grade entrance exam is conducted on the same topic and on the same day at Tran Dai Nghia High School for the Gifted, students are only allowed to choose one of the two schools to participate in the exam. Mr. Nguyen also added that although the topic and the exam date are the same, because the enrollment quota and number of students taking the exam at each school are different, the admission scores for each school will also be different.

Thus, students taking the entrance exam for grade 6 at Tran Quoc Toan 1 Secondary School (Thu Duc City) will take an English proficiency test on July 4 with the following content: Candidates will take a proficiency test on the following competencies: language (English, Vietnamese - writing); mathematics and logical thinking; natural sciences , social sciences (history - geography); common sense of life.

The form of the competency assessment includes multiple choice and essay sections. Multiple choice section: Candidates take a 20-question multiple choice test in English about their understanding of natural sciences, social sciences and common sense in life in 30 minutes. Essay section: Candidates take the test in 60 minutes, including: English proficiency test: listening comprehension, reading comprehension, writing. Candidates take the test in English. Math and logical thinking test, reading comprehension and writing test. Candidates take the test in Vietnamese. All competency assessment sections are 90 minutes.
