Regarding the emergency hospitalization following the consumption of bread in Vung Tau, authorities are tracing the origin of the food at four bread production facilities, one pork processing facility, and one sausage production facility.
On November 27th, the Health Department of Vung Tau City (Ba Ria - Vung Tau province) issued a preliminary report on the suspected food poisoning incident caused by eating bread and sticky rice at Co Ba Ben Dinh bread and sticky rice shop.
Many people experience stomach pain after eating bread.
According to the Vung Tau City Health Department, the meal related to the suspected food poisoning incident was in the late afternoon/evening (between 5 PM and 11 PM on November 26th), after which patients were hospitalized with symptoms including fever, abdominal pain, diarrhea, vomiting, nausea, and headache.
The food consisted of a mixed meat sandwich (boiled meat, shredded pork, butter, pâté, Vietnamese sausage, sauce, pickles, onions, and cilantro). At 0:00 on November 27th, the first person exhibiting symptoms related to food poisoning was taken to Vung Tau Hospital for treatment.
As of 4 PM on November 27th, nearly 150 cases had been admitted to Vung Tau Hospital and Vietsovpetro Medical Center for treatment. Currently, more than 80 people are hospitalized at these two medical facilities, while the rest are being monitored and will be discharged.
According to the Vung Tau City Health Department, the results of an on-site inspection at Co Ba Ben Dinh bread and sticky rice shop showed that the establishment did not meet hygiene standards (preparation and processing took place on the floor, utensils and ingredients were not elevated), and the walls of the washing area were damp and moldy.
The processing procedure does not follow a one-way principle. At the time of working with the authorities, the facility had not presented a business registration certificate, a food safety certificate, or documents proving the origin and source of the food and food ingredients…
Authorities collected all remaining food samples from the store and one sample (vomit) was taken to the hospital. The samples were immediately sent to the Ho Chi Minh City Institute of Public Health for microbiological testing.
The Vung Tau City Health Department is coordinating with the City Police and the Economic Department to conduct traceability inspections at 4 bread production facilities, 1 pork production facility, and 1 sausage production facility.
