On March 4th, at the Rach Gia Ward Military Command, preparations for the conscription day were bustling and lively. Nguyen Van Hai (21 years old), residing in the Day Oc neighborhood, arrived early to complete the procedures with his friends before departure. As a young Party member admitted at the end of 2025 in the Day Oc neighborhood Party branch, Hai couldn't hide his joy and pride at wearing the green military uniform.
After graduating from high school, Hai worked at a hotel in Con Dao to help support his family. His father was a fisherman, his mother a housewife, and his younger sister was still in school; life was difficult. After working away from home for some time, Hai returned to his hometown and actively participated in youth activities, supporting cultural and artistic movements and volunteer work. With his enthusiasm and sense of responsibility, Hai was honored to be admitted into the Party.
Aware of his responsibility as a young person to his country, Hai volunteered to enlist in the army. “The military environment will help me develop my character and become more mature. If I have the opportunity to serve in the army for a long time, it would be a great honor,” Hai shared.
Hai's motivation to confidently enlist also came from the support of his family and the concern of the local government. Mr. Bui Trung Thuc, Chairman of the People's Committee and Chairman of the Military Service Council of Rach Gia Ward, affirmed that the recruitment and conscription of citizens into the military was carried out openly, democratically, and in accordance with the law; the quality of young people enlisting is constantly improving. The locality focuses on implementing the military's rear-area support policy well and promptly commends young volunteers. "The citizens who received their conscription orders in 2026 are exemplary young people of the locality. Their sense of responsibility and enthusiasm, as well as that of their families, are highly commendable," Mr. Thuc said.
In the vibrant atmosphere of early spring, young people in Vinh Binh commune are eagerly awaiting the time to enlist in the army. In 2026, 100% of the commune's selected young people volunteered to enlist, including 9 Party members. This number clearly demonstrates the pioneering spirit of the youth and affirms the increasingly improved quality of military recruitment, ensuring strict adherence to procedures, democracy, and transparency.
Mr. Nguyen Van Duc, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee, Chairman of the People's Committee of Vinh Binh commune, and Chairman of the Military Service Council of Vinh Binh commune, said that this year's military recruitment work was implemented seriously and with coordinated efforts among various departments, agencies, and organizations. Propaganda and mobilization efforts were intensified, creating high consensus among the people. Many families with a military tradition continued to encourage their children to enthusiastically enlist and fulfill their sacred duty.
Among the young men preparing for military service in Vinh Binh commune, Nguyen Van Trong, residing in Nuoc Chay hamlet, is counting down the days until he dons his soldier's uniform. Born into a family where his grandfather and uncle were soldiers, Trong has dreamed of becoming a soldier since childhood. "This year, having met the health requirements and been selected for military service, I am very happy and proud. Although I feel a little sad about leaving my family, I believe this is an opportunity to train, grow, and contribute a small part to protecting the Fatherland," Trong expressed.
The trust of the Party committee, the government, and the people is the foundation that helps young people move forward with confidence. Localities all organized traditional gatherings, seminars, and cultural exchanges, creating an atmosphere of excitement before the conscription day. In Binh Giang commune, Pham Huu Luan, a Party member residing in Kinh 9 hamlet, who just turned 20, woke up early to participate in cultural and artistic activities and a traditional seminar on "Uncle Ho's Soldiers." Born into a farming family and familiar with the fields, Luan is not afraid of hardship. "I've been used to working since I was little, so I'm not afraid of hard work. Joining the army is an opportunity to experience a new environment, learn, train, and broaden my knowledge. If I can serve for a long time, it will be a source of pride for myself and my family," Luan shared.
Major Nguyen Thanh Mao, Deputy Political Commissar of the Military Command of Binh Giang commune, said that this year most of the young men selected for military service volunteered to enlist. Despite implementing a two-tiered local government model and not organizing large-scale camps, the commune still maintained activities such as meetings, exchanges, games, and discussions on youth responsibilities, creating an enthusiastic atmosphere before departure.
This spring, the image of young men carrying backpacks, bidding farewell to their families to enter the military environment, not only demonstrates civic responsibility but also fosters patriotism and a desire to contribute among today's youth. With enthusiasm, courage, and the trust of their homeland, these young men enlisting in 2026 will continue to train, study, and strictly adhere to military and police discipline, ready to accept and successfully complete all assigned tasks, worthy of the heroic traditions of their homeland and the pride of their families.
