- Nowadays, women are increasingly asserting their role in various aspects of social life. In particular, in elected bodies, female representatives actively contribute to policy making and promote socio-economic development in the province.
The Party and State of Vietnam have always attached great importance to the work related to female cadres, considering it one of the crucial elements in the national human resource development strategy. In implementing this policy, Party committees, government agencies, and heads of organizations and units throughout the province have focused on leading and directing the implementation of gender equality and the advancement of women. At the beginning of the 2021-2026 term, the percentage of female delegates in the 15th National Assembly delegation of the province was 20%; in the 17th Provincial People's Council, there were 17 female delegates, accounting for 30.91%; and at the commune level, there were 1,068 female delegates, accounting for 27.29%.

Female representatives in elected bodies have performed their roles well, focusing on reflecting the voices and aspirations of voters, especially women and children, in the parliamentary arena. They consistently strive to improve their political theory, professional skills, and workplace culture, participating in emulation movements and social activities, caring for the well-being of the people, and protecting their legitimate rights and interests.
Ms. Chu Thi Hong Thai, Deputy Head of the Democracy, Supervision and Social Criticism Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of the province, and a member of the 15th National Assembly, shared: "As the only female representative of the provincial National Assembly delegation during the 15th term, I am deeply aware of the honor that comes with responsibility. I not only represent the voters of the entire province but also wish to convey the voices and thoughts of women, especially women in ethnic minority areas, to the parliamentary arena. During my term, I focused on proposing and contributing to the improvement of mechanisms and policies to support women's economic development, enhance their status, and promote gender equality; paying attention to issues of education, health, and healthcare for women, children, and vulnerable people. At the same time, I always strive to scientifically manage my time to successfully fulfill my duties as a representative, my professional work, and my family responsibilities, with the utmost dedication and responsibility to the voters. I cherish every opportunity to interact with voters, every opinion that is recorded and conveyed." I believe that when representatives truly put themselves in the people's shoes, acting with a sense of responsibility and sincerity, even the voice of an individual can contribute to positive changes for the community and society.
In preparation for the 16th National Assembly elections and the People's Council elections at all levels for the 2026-2031 term, provincial authorities and departments have proactively selected and nominated female candidates to ensure that at least 35% of the candidates on the official list are women. Ms. Nguyen Thi Hong Van, Vice Chairwoman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of the province and Chairwoman of the Provincial Women's Union, informed that the Women's Union at all levels has proactively coordinated with the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee at the same level to nominate outstanding, reputable women with high professional qualifications and qualifications to the list of candidates. They have also participated in monitoring the implementation of regulations on the percentage and structure of female representatives in accordance with the spirit of the National Strategy on Gender Equality; coordinated the organization and mobilization of female candidates to participate in the National Assembly and People's Council elections; and participated in training courses for female candidates. To ensure a high voter turnout and improve the quality of female delegates, the Provincial Women's Union has intensified its propaganda efforts and diversified its methods to suit the specific characteristics of each unit. The goal is to ensure that members and women understand their rights and responsibilities, thereby encouraging them to voluntarily and enthusiastically participate in the elections. After the election, we will summarize, evaluate, and develop a plan for training female delegates.
Thanks to the proactive approach and attention of all levels and sectors towards the work of female cadres, the number of female elected representatives is increasing. After three rounds of consultations, the province has 5 out of 13 candidates for the 16th National Assembly who are women, reaching 38.5%; 31 out of 85 candidates for the Provincial People's Council, term 2026-2031, are women, reaching 36.5%; and 915 out of 2,150 candidates for the Commune People's Council, term 2026-2031, are women, reaching 42.6%. The goal is to achieve a female election rate of over 30% of the total number of candidates.
With the close attention and guidance of Party committees and authorities at all levels, along with their own efforts, female elected representatives are increasingly asserting their position and contributing to the sustainable development of their localities. This helps promote gender equality, improve the quality of the state apparatus, and contribute to the overall progress and development of society.
