At the close of trading this week, the price of SJC gold bars temporarily settled at 146.2 - 150.2 million VND/ounce (buy - sell), a decrease of 3 million VND/ounce compared to the previous session. Compared to the morning of June 5th, the selling price of gold bars has decreased by more than 5 million VND/ounce.
Based on the daily price chart, SJC gold bars have maintained a continuous downward trend for the past 7 days. The total decrease this week amounted to over 8 million VND/ounce, equivalent to a net decrease of approximately 5%.
With the current buy-sell price difference at 4 million VND/ounce, those who bought gold a week ago have now incurred a loss of over 12 million VND/ounce, equivalent to a loss of approximately 8%.
Looking further ahead, compared to a month ago, the price of gold bars has dropped by approximately 13 million VND per tael. Adding the buy-sell spread, those who bought gold during this period are incurring a loss of about 17 million VND per tael.
This price drop also marks a "disastrous" trading week for domestic buyers as the price of gold officially broke through its 2026 low. Accordingly, the current price of 150.2 million VND/ounce is also the lowest selling price of SJC gold bars since the beginning of the year. In the first trading session of 2026, the price of gold bars was still trading around 152.8 million VND/ounce. After that, the price surged and reached a historical peak of nearly 191 million VND/ounce in early March, before continuously declining until now.
Thus, after months of significant fluctuations, the price of gold bars is now nearly 41 million VND/ounce lower than its historical peak.
Given the above developments, all those who bought gold from 2026 to the present are currently losing money.

For gold rings, domestic businesses are currently listing common trading prices around 146.2 - 150.2 million VND/ounce, equivalent to the price of SJC gold bars. The price of gold rings also closely follows the trend of gold bars this week.
In just one week, the price of gold rings has decreased by more than 8 million VND per tael; and over the past month, the decrease has reached approximately 13 million VND per tael.
Notably, the price of gold rings also reached a historical peak of over 191 million VND/ounce in March. Compared to this peak, the price of gold rings has now decreased by nearly 41 million VND/ounce, equivalent to a net decrease of 21%.
This means that investors who bought gold rings at the peak are now incurring losses of up to approximately 45 million VND per ounce if they sell them at the present time.
Domestic gold prices weakened this week, primarily influenced by global gold price movements. This week, the spot price of gold on the world market started above $4,500 per ounce, but has since fallen to around $4,300 per ounce, the lowest level since mid-March. This week alone, the global gold price has fallen by nearly 4%, and compared to a month ago, the decline is over 5%.
