We are deeply saddened to receive the news that Mr. Nguyen Phu Trong, General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam , passed away on July 19, 2024.
In this time of sorrow and grief, we extend our deepest condolences to the family and loved ones of General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong, the Government, and the people of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam.
The lifelong leadership and dedication of General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong to the people and country of Vietnam will always be remembered. General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong's contributions to peace , friendship, and regional and international cooperation will be an invaluable and lasting legacy.
Also on July 24, 2024, at the Meeting of the Committee on the Southeast Asia Nuclear Weapon-Free Zone Treaty (SEANWFZ), the first activity within the framework of the 57th ASEAN Foreign Ministers' Meeting and related meetings, the ASEAN Foreign Ministers observed a minute of silence to express their deep sorrow at the passing of General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam Nguyen Phu Trong, a leader who made many important contributions to peace, friendship, and cooperation in the region and the world.
