TWICE tries to erase the label of cute idols

At the press conference before the release of her first solo mini album "abouTZU", Tzuyu shared many interesting things.

According to the singer, as the youngest member of TWICE, she knows that many people only see her as cute. But with this solo album, Tzuyu wants to show a more mature and stronger side of herself, erasing the bright and sweet image that everyone is familiar with.

For example, the album name - "aboutTZU" is a wordplay between the word "about" and her name - Tzuyu, symbolizing the personal exploration of emotions and behind-the-scenes moments that the female idol has kept secret until now.

“I wanted to express myself more boldly in a way that I had never done before. I have performed on many stages as a member of TWICE, but when I watched other solo artists perform, I wondered what it would be like to meet fans with my own music .

That curiosity turned into a passion for a solo debut, and fortunately, it has now become an opportunity to show a new side of myself,” the Korea Times quoted.

As the third member of TWICE to debut solo, after Nayeon and Jihyo, Tzuyu shared that she received encouragement and support from her group members. They even came to her photoshoot, despite their busy schedules.

However, with her debut product, the singer born in 1999 still encountered some challenges when recording the song “Run Away” in “abouTZU”. “I paid a lot of attention to expressing the right emotions through my voice. And because the lyrics are entirely in Korean, there were challenges with pronunciation, so I had to record the song many times to perfect it.”

Along with that, Tzuyu expressed her desire to leave a lasting impression on the audience through this album, because she "fully showed her diverse charms".

“At first, I hesitated because of worries and concerns, but since becoming a solo artist has been a long-cherished dream, I approached this with the determination to give it my all. This album reflects everything I do, and I hope everyone will see me not only as the youngest member of TWICE, but also as a charming solo artist.”
