Musk made this announcement a few days after he announced his resignation as CEO and that he would be finding a new CEO, but did not reveal the name of that person. His successor will take office within the next six weeks.
He added: "Looking forward to working with Linda to transform this platform into X, an application for everything."
Yaccarino has worked at NBCUniversal since 2011. She is highly regarded in the advertising field. With her extensive industry connections, she is expected to bring strength to Twitter at this time.
Yaccarino interviewed Musk at a marketing event in mid-April. There, the two discussed the role of marketers in the future of Twitter. Throughout the conference, Musk tried to reassure advertisers that Twitter is a respectable platform.
Amidst this situation, many companies have temporarily suspended advertising on Twitter. To compensate for lost revenue, Elon Musk launched a new subscription service, Twitter Blue, priced at $8 per month.
