In the second match of the group stage of the 2026 Southeast Asian U19 Championship, Vietnam U19 faced Myanmar U19. Against a much weaker opponent, Cong Hau and his teammates started proactively and quickly took control of the game.
Vietnam U19 had a chance to open the scoring in the 10th minute. Duy Khang confidently controlled the ball on the left wing before dribbling into the center and unleashing a shot from over 25 meters. Unfortunately, the ball went over the crossbar.
A few minutes later, Tan Dung skillfully dribbled the ball down the left wing and unleashed a long-range shot that the Myanmar U19 goalkeeper couldn't hold onto; however, the Myanmar defenders managed to clear the danger in time.
Midway through the first half, Van Khanh and Van Bach unleashed three consecutive dangerous shots, but the U19 Myanmar goalkeeper remained focused and successfully thwarted them.
After a series of consecutive attacks, the opening goal finally came for Vietnam U19 in the 28th minute. Tan Dung broke the deadlock for his team with an accurate close-range header after a series of missed opportunities.
After scoring the opening goal, Vietnam U19 continued to be the better team and scored a second goal in the 45+2 minute. Cong Hau finished from close range into the net of Myanmar U19 after the opposing defense was disorganized by Duy Khang's handling of the ball.
Four minutes into the second half, the score was increased to 3-0 for Vietnam U19 with a goal from Van Bach after an assist from Cong Hau.
By the 62nd minute, the score was 4-0 in favor of Vietnam U19. Goalkeeper Sai Khant fouled Cong Hau inside the penalty area, and the referee pointed to the penalty spot. From the 11-meter mark, Duy Khang made no mistake to put his name on the scoreboard.
Trailing by four goals, the Myanmar U19 team didn't have many opportunities to threaten the Vietnam U19 goal and score a goal to reduce the deficit.
In the final minutes of the second half, Thien Phu sealed the 5-0 victory for Vietnam U19 with a powerful header. With this emphatic win against Myanmar U19, Cong Hau and his teammates have put one foot in the semi-finals of the Southeast Asian U19 Championship.
