The Chinese U23 team had a successful tournament. |
According to Titan Sports , although the AFC does not award direct prize money for youth tournaments (officially, only trophies and medals are given), the Chinese Football Association (CFA) and sponsors will have a policy of rewarding the country's U23 teams when they achieve results that exceed expectations.
With their new record-breaking performance and advancement to the semi-finals, the Chinese U23 team is expected to receive a prize of at least 5 million RMB (equivalent to over 700,000 USD ). If they reach the final and win the championship, the prize money for the Chinese U23 team could exceed 1 million USD .
This award is given by the CFA to encourage and promote the development of youth football. In their five previous appearances in the tournament, the Chinese U23 team only managed two wins out of 15 matches and never once advanced beyond the group stage to the knockout round.
However, at this year's tournament, the East Asian team, under the guidance of coach Antonio Puche, has shown exceptionally impressive form. After four matches, the Chinese U23 team remains undefeated, having not conceded a single goal, marking a historic turning point for the country's youth football.
They started with a goalless draw against Iraq, then surprisingly beat Australia 1-0. Following that, the Chinese U23 team drew 0-0 with Thailand, maintaining their unbeaten streak and officially advancing beyond the group stage for the first time.
The highlight was their dramatic 4-2 penalty shootout victory against Uzbekistan in the quarter-finals (after a 0-0 draw in 120 minutes), which propelled them into the semi-finals, their best performance ever.
This historic achievement has brought well-deserved rewards to the Chinese U23 team.
