Vietnam U23 team convenes.

The Vietnam U23 team will reconvene in Hanoi on March 17th with 30 players to participate in the CFA Team China – Xi'an 2026 International Football Tournament.

This is the first training camp for the Vietnam U23 team since the 2026 AFC U23 Championship finals and also coincides with the national team's FIFA Days in March 2026. Therefore, assistant coach Dinh Hong Vinh continues to be entrusted by head coach Kim Sang Sik with the position of Acting Head Coach of the Vietnam U23 team.

Mr. Dinh Hong Vinh was in charge of the Vietnamese U22/U23 youth teams during previous training camps and international competitions in China.

According to the Vietnam Football Federation (VFF), the goal of this training camp for the Vietnam U23 team is to continue building a reserve force, given that many key players have either exceeded the U23 age limit or have been promoted to the national team.

For now, the coaching staff is focusing on reviewing and evaluating the squad to prepare personnel for the men's football event at the 2026 Asian Games, which will take place in September, with the core being players born between 2005 and 2007.

The list of 30 players called up also shows a clear continuation of the generation of players who have matured from the Vietnam U19, U20, and U23 youth teams, such as goalkeepers Pham Dinh Hai and Cao Van Binh, midfielders Nguyen Cong Phuong and Le Van Thuan, and striker Nguyen Le Phat…

In addition, there are many new faces such as Nguyen Quoc Toan, Nguyen Anh Tuan (PVF-CAND), Tran Hai Anh (Quang Ninh), Nguyen Trong Son ( Bac Ninh ), Ta Xuan Truong (Ninh Binh Sports Training Center II), Vu Quoc Anh (Hai Phong)...

According to the plan, the Vietnam U23 team will train in Hanoi from March 17th. It is expected that on March 23rd, the coaching staff will narrow down the roster to 25 players before departing for China to participate in the CFA Team China 2026 International Tournament, which will take place in Xi'an from March 25th to 31st.

This year's tournament features four teams: host nation China U23, Vietnam U23, Thailand U23, and North Korea U23, competing in a round-robin format to determine the final rankings.

According to the schedule announced by the organizers, the Vietnam U23 team will face North Korea U23 on March 25th, then Thailand U23 on March 28th, before competing against the host team China U23 in the final match on March 31st.
