
According to the UAE National Meteorological Centre (NCM), the temperature was recorded at 12:45 local time, making Sweihan the hottest place in the country that day. The Sweihan area is located approximately 150km from the UAE capital, Abu Dhabi.
Meteorological experts had previously warned that this summer in the UAE could be much hotter than the multi-year average. However, the exact level of heat will depend on the development of weather patterns affecting the region.
This forecast comes as the World Meteorological Organization (WMO) warns of a continued increase in extreme weather events, with prolonged heatwaves occurring in many parts of the world, including the Middle East.
