Goals as a gift for International Women's Day (March 8th).
The Dong Nai University of Technology team got off to a smooth start with a 2-0 victory over the Ho Chi Minh City University of Education team. Captain Nguyen Phu Hong Phuc shone with a skillful corner kick that curled into the opponent's net. This rare goal from the former NutiFood Academy player in the 21st minute relieved the pressure and broke the deadlock for the Dong Nai University of Technology team, allowing them to play brilliantly from then on. Hong Phuc also played a key role in the 2-0 victory, delivering a well-placed corner kick that allowed teammate Nguyen Pham Dang Khoa to head the ball past goalkeeper Pham Gia Bao.

The players from Ho Chi Minh City University of Education also put in a strong effort, creating several scoring opportunities but unfortunately missing them. The teamwork and fluid play were the strengths of the Dong Nai University of Technology team, resulting in a full three points. Coach Le Huu Phat shared: "The opening match is always difficult, so I am satisfied with the results the team achieved. My feeling when witnessing Hong Phuc's goal from a corner kick can be summed up in one word: Awesome! However, I wasn't surprised because the players had practiced very well in coordinating corner kicks and other situations." Coach Le Huu Phat added that with two formidable teams in Group B, the University of Water Resources and Dong Thap University, the entire Dong Nai University of Technology team had to focus on doing their best in each match. "This is their first time participating in the finals, but the Dong Thap University team played with great composure and were a tough opponent, so we need to at least get a point when we face them in the next match to build momentum for the decisive match against the strongest team in the group, the Water Resources University," said coach Le Huu Phat.
Meanwhile, player Nguyen Phu Hong Phuc beamed with happiness after being voted Man of the Match. "On International Women's Day, March 8th, I would like to dedicate my goal and the team's victory to the ladies at Dong Nai University of Technology," Hong Phuc said humorously.
Having lost their opening match, coach Pham Ha Minh and the Ho Chi Minh City University of Education team must put all their efforts into finding an opportunity in the next two matches, against the University of Water Resources and the Dong Thap University team respectively.
Former runner-up makes a strong comeback.
In the other match of Group B, the Dong Thap University team and the Thuy Loi University team provided fans with many high-quality plays. Approximately 100 fans from the "Land of Lotus" traveled all the way to Nha Trang University to cheer on the Dong Thap University players, providing great motivation. The Thuy Loi University team from the capital city was also not alone, with a group of supporters cheering them on from the stands.
After a tight, evenly matched first half, the Water Resources University team broke the deadlock in the 49th minute with a close-range finish from Do Huu Hai. From a corner kick, Duc Hoan headed the ball directly to Huu Hai, who successfully capitalized on the opportunity. The Water Resources University team doubled their lead in the 60th minute when Nguyen Hoang Danh successfully converted a penalty after goalkeeper Nguyen Lam Vu (Dong Thap University team) fouled Ngo Duong Manh. The Water Resources University captain, Nguyen Hoang Danh, continued his impressive performance with another penalty kick, securing a 3-0 victory for his team against Dong Thap University.
After a season absent from the finals, the Water Resources University team, a two-time runner-up, has returned strongly. However, coach Vu Van Trung cautiously stated that difficulties and challenges still await the team on their journey ahead. As for Dong Thap University, coach Joao Pedro and his players will learn from their experience and regroup for the two crucial matches in Group B.
