Ms. Phuong's family once faced very difficult circumstances. With young children and a livelihood dependent on plucking chicken and duck feathers for hire, there were times when they struggled to make ends meet. Despite these hardships, she still harbored a dream of starting her own business, seeking a job that would both support her family and help other women facing economic challenges. The question, "Why not create dishes that are authentically Vietnamese, clean, convenient, and high-quality, to bring into every family kitchen?" motivated her to embark on a culinary entrepreneurial journey.
Every day, in addition to their regular jobs to make ends meet, she and her husband, Quang Dieu, persistently experiment with various cooking methods, seasoning techniques, and adjusting every small detail in each recipe. She incorporates locally available spices such as star anise, cinnamon, and gardenia fruit to create dishes that are not only fragrant and flavorful but also have a unique taste, different from similar products on the market.
In early 2024, two products under the Quang Dieu brand, salt-cured chicken with peppercorns and soy sauce-cured pig ear rolls, officially entered the market. The salt-cured chicken with peppercorns has a mild flavor, a natural pink color, is tender and juicy, and has a rich salt and peppercorn taste; the pig ear rolls with tongue are crispy on the outside and soft on the inside, combined with a special dipping sauce to create an appealing dish. Besides these two main products, she also developed soy sauce-cured pork trotters, soy sauce-cured pig ears, and soy sauce-cured chicken. To ensure a stable supply of ingredients, she contracted with several free-range chicken farmers in the area.
Ms. Ha Thu Huong, from Hoang Hoa Tham block, Luong Van Tri ward, said: "I have bought and tried some products from the Quang Dieu brand. My first impression is that the products are carefully, elegantly, and beautifully packaged; no cooking is needed, just thaw and you can open and use them immediately. The aroma is very distinctive, the seasoning is just right, and the taste is delicious and unique, very suitable for family meals, especially on busy days when there isn't much time to cook."
After nearly two years on the market, Quang Dieu's brand products have been positively received by consumers. Currently, her family's products are not only popular for daily meals but also included in party menus and used as gifts. Besides direct sales, she also sells online on Facebook and Zalo. Thanks to its delicious and distinctive flavor, the product quickly gained a reputation in the market, helping her build a network of 10 distributors inside and outside the province. With prices ranging from 140,000 to 280,000 VND per product, her family's production facility sells hundreds of products each month, generating revenue of over 50 million VND. Her production facility also provides regular employment for two local women, including one woman with a disability.
Mr. Tran The Kien, Chairman of the Provincial Investment and Startup Club and a member of the Judging Panel for the 2025 Women's Startup Day, stated: "The salt-cured chicken with peppercorns and soy sauce-cured pig ear rolls have a very delicious flavor, especially the rich and savory dipping sauce. The products also benefit from improved packaging and labeling. To further develop, the creators need to expand the raw material area, aiming for large-scale production, thereby increasing output and expanding the market for the products."
At the 2025 Women's Entrepreneurship Day organized by the Standing Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of the province, Ms. Phuong's project on processing salt-cured chicken with peppercorns and soy sauce-cured rolled pig ears and tongues received an encouragement award. She said: Her family is expanding the scale of their production facility; investing in additional equipment such as steamers, electric cookers, industrial vacuum sealers, large-scale cold storage cabinets, etc.; and simultaneously registering for OCOP (One Commune One Product) certification to affirm brand reputation, aiming to introduce products into supermarket chains, clean food stores, and regional food fairs, meeting the consumer trend of "delicious, clean, convenient, and rich in identity." With dynamism, perseverance, and determination, Quang Dieu branded products are gradually gaining a foothold in the hearts of consumers and expanding their market, thus bringing Ms. Phuong closer to her dream.
