The An Cựu Ward Police are taking statements from suspect Nguyen Hoang Huy.

Earlier, in late July 2025, public opinion was stirred by information on the "Vietnamese - Cambodian News" Facebook page about a 5-year-old girl being kidnapped in broad daylight in Phu Hoi ward (formerly Thuan Hoa district). The child was thrown onto the road and then run over by a car, breaking her arm, accompanied by blurry, manipulated images.

The fabricated story caused public outrage and confusion, raising concerns about security and order in the area. This fictitious information was created to solicit donations from the public through a personal account provided by the perpetrator.

Given the extent of the negative impact, the An Cựu Ward Police, in coordination with the Cyber Security and High-Tech Crime Prevention Department, launched an investigation.

The investigation revealed that the entire story was fabricated and sensationalized to solicit charitable donations. In reality, no kidnapping occurred in Hue City; even the location mentioned as "Ben Nghe Gate, Phu Hoi Ward" does not exist, as Phu Hoi Ward was dissolved on July 1, 2025. The names and addresses associated with the "victim's family" are all fictitious.

In early September 2025, authorities identified the person behind the "Tin Viet - Cam" fanpage as Nguyen Hoang Huy (born in 2002, residing in Gia Lai province).

At the police station, Nguyen Hoang Huy admitted to staging the kidnapping of the girl, fabricating the story, and manipulating images from various online sources to create a fake scene to increase the credibility of the false post. He deceived many people into transferring "donations" to his account, appropriating over 80 million VND.

The An Cựu Ward Police are currently consolidating the case file to handle the matter strictly according to the law.
